Hello everyone, I'm a first time poster and have registered to enlist your help answer a styling question that I have failed to answer myself.
I've had the below as a gift. It's a wool Pal Zileri jacket with a canvas construction. Whilst initially very pleased as it appears to be a very nice and well constructed jacket....as well as having elbow pads (having a degree in Geography means an affection for elbow pads is well ingrained) I have no idea what to wear it with! being a mid-30s chap I'm keen to tread the line carefully of making sure i 'look my age'!
Your thoughts and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. By the way. the chap in the picture isn't me. I'm not that good looking unfortunately!

I suspect it would like good with most things other than how it is pictured! Mid grey trousers would work, as would cream and some browns. Jeans would be OK too if enough contrast between the blues. Same point about colour contrast would apply to shirt

Just wear it as one would any casual jacket. There is no reason why it demands special consideration.

The colour is light for a sport jacket. Pairing it with other lighter colours (sky blue, mid to light grey) for medium contrast would be more "classic menswear"; wearing it with darker colours for high contrast (principal element light/other elements dark - risks looking a bit "pimp") would be very "fashion", as seen in the photo.

Personally don't much care for that style (kind of fashion blue casual city tweed) because it best lends itself to fairly cliche looking combinations.

How important is full vs half canvas to you for heavier sport jackets?
