Happy Friday everyone. Crusty, I was hoping you would bust out the "One Sportcoat" today so we would match. Alas!

So sorry to disappoint - had I known, we could have matched, though I would look old and fat in comparison to you, were I to have worn my copy of the "One Sportcoat". :)

I hope that my rather low-key (well, at least for me) posting did not disappoint too badly. Next time you wish to coordinate wardrobe, send me a PM :satisfied:

I acutally have a pair of blue trousers not unlike the ones you wear with it sometimes. I think it would be rather humorous to see how close we could get to mirroring :nodding:

The trousers in question (on my side) are in dire need of re-tailoring (they need to be taken in - better, certainly than needing to be let out). That being said, it would be quite humorous to see how close (or far) our fits would be using the same basic pieces.

On a side note. Have you ever noticed that the full canvas fitz sportcoats (like the one in question) are generally more slim in cut? The armholes are noticeably higher and the chest is more shaped and tapered. It is a shame they only produce a few diff. fabrics a year as I would buy them exclusively even at the higher price point. I wish they would have southwick make the made in the USA full canvas sportcoats in saxxon fabrics with the softer shoulder of the made in china pieces. I guess one cannot have their cake and eat it too.

I recently purchased a lovely summer plaid sportcoat from BB, same cut and construction quality and it too is a better cut than the other sportcoat lines. Can't wait to bust it out.

This outfit comes with the "dead body in the trunk" accessory, correct?

Awesome tie.

You are more articulate as to the changes made in BB's fitting of their Fitzgerald sportcoats than I am. I only know that, having been able to fit into size 42R Fitzgerald jackets (and 42R Regents as well) for the last two years, with this past winter season, I had to size up one size to 43R in both lines, and that even Madison models (which continued to fit me as 42R's) were more closely fitted. This was met with much sputtering over at That Other Website (a.k.a. AAAC), possibly by those who were better served by BB's more traditionally fuller cuts.

the 40rs fit me pretty well off the rack with a little letting out of the waist. I just think the outline they use for the full canvas pieces has higher armholes and a slimmer frame in general. Now, if they would only offer some more side vents I would be pretty happy. They recently released a few side vent madison models so maybe they will for the fitzgerald as well.

Sorry for the BB centric talk...very small timer but I really like some of their patterns recently. Very nice for otr and in pretty nice fabrics as well.

Messing around with black... I wouldn't typically reach for black shoes with these trousers, but with the black tie and the beard, I think there's enough black in the top half of the look for it to balance out. Thoughts?

I like this HF, it think you're absolutely right regarding balance. I think the SC is what ties it all together neatly, and the PS is perfect.

damn good fit. Ive been trying to fit in more black (darker tones) at the advice of someone. I think youjre 100% correct...with the tie black shoes work great.
