Regarding speed hooks: Love the way blind eyelets look but they are so impractical. Takes a couple of minutes getting them on and off. Speed hooks are almost a necessity. Im considering having speed hooks installed on the Wigmore's

^ Depends on the balance between boot shaft height and number of eyelets. 6" height with 9 eyelets is standard for Alden it works very nicely. The higher Carmina boots, such as the Bal boot, appears to be around 8" height or more with 10 eyelets. Just a bit much for all eyelets, although it would look so very nice.

Tried to fill out the Balmoral survey as best as possible. Since I don't know what lasts will be available in size that will work for me I wasn't able to answer that question.

Results are coming in:

The spreadsheet for the Jodhpur

The spreadsheet for the Balmoral

Perhaps we should consider setting a deadline to try to move things along. Particularly since there's still the open question of sizing on a given last and then it looks like there will have to be some negotiation over certain details to arrive at a final makeups.

Regarding the Jodphur, it seems most of the last selections were made before MIke confirmed that the pictured boot is made on the Rain last. I'm open to medallion of we can get enough people to agree on it.

Regarding timeframes, it sounds like Epaulet will place orders with Carmina mid-Jan so we probably have several more weeks, no?

Exactly. This is just the sort of issue we'll need to have resolved by those who are serious about the makeups. Similarly, it seems like the color may be an issue with the Balmorals. I think we want to be on the January order that you mention, particularly since it sounds like that could get us the boots by early spring.

Of course with the holidays in full swing, we don't have quite as much time as it seems. People will probably be distracted from their efforts to secure $1,000 boots by eggnog and noise makers and such. Can't imagine it myself really...:)

I'm going to bow out as this has gone in a direction where I would not spend $1K.

Would the non-boot guys be interested in something like this? These are suede austerity brogues on the Simpson for Spencer Hart. I prefer the lighter tan but find them both very attractive. Found these on the "shoe Appreciation thread" from Malford of London, Post 8254.

I'm up for any non-cordovan balmoral shoe. Since we are getting a shoe for the spring/summer, suede looks great. I agree with your selection of tan here. It's difficult to find good sleek suede sues, this one looks awesome.

Leave it to Mr. Nick to come with the goods. I am all for these. That makes 2 (or 4) orders for ATX...
