Also agree. It does look great, however @ $275 I'm inclined to just go up to a lined jacket, often removable. I see waxed being that perfect transitional piece but it does need to teeter on the border of freezing temps . As a layering piece, waxed isn't the best choice.

On the other end of the seasonal spectrum, I'm pretty sure we need to see these Doyles in a lux linen blend next spring. :cool2:

^ I agree with the comments on the waxed unlined Doyle. Waxed is less breathable, wears off by contact, and is less usable for me. Linen blend for next year sounds very interesting.

Hey guys,

Thanks for all of the feedback on the Waxed Doyle! We got quite a bit on Instagram too, so it's great to see everyone's perspective on it.

In terms of pricing, it's gonna probably fall at $265, but maybe $275... just depends on how much of this fabric gets consumed. It's harder to cut than regular canvas.

It's definitely intended to be a stylistic piece, and not to be a direct substitute for something like a Barbour or Filson. They've got the lined, waxed jacket thing down. I have a Tokito Barbour jacket that's going on six years old and I can't see replacing it anytime soon.

The Doyle is unlined and gives off more of a sportcoat vibe than a "jacket" vibe in this fabric. The waxed is thick and takes on those wear lines really easily. It's going to look beautifully aged in no time. It's not going to replace gore-tex in a huge downpour, but it will certainly keep water off you on a wetter day, particularly under an umbrella. It's less about being a one-stop Fall jacket, and more about doing this popular and versatile shape in a really cool fabric that you don't already see. I personally find unlined waxed cotton to be pretty comfortable and wearable, but YMMV. This kind of product also may speak more to the denim & boots crowd, which makes up a big part of our Instagram & Reddit following.

Either way, I'm 100% with you guys on the need to develop a wool Doyle and more biz-caz, smart-caz jackets in general. This is just one of many things that we're going to offer in the Fall!

A thousand times yes. Or a heavy irish linen. I stopped by the EP office yesterday to do some fittings (thanks Adele and Mike for fitting me in in the midst of your huge delivery), and was really impressed with the Doyle. It looks even better in person than in the pictures.

Awesome!

I have two wool field coats from Eidos Napoli that I've worn just a handful of times because I've decided that the shape and cut just aren't for me. I'd much prefer a Doyle given the option between the two if they were available in similar fabrics.

Any thoughts on an unlined suede version of the Doyle? Alternatively, was there some mention of a suede sportcoat somewhere on the horizon?

@dalevy great seeing you! Can't wait to show everyone pics of the new showroom when it's all set up next month

Blue wool herringbone:

@Patrick R yup, all the way like that!

Does the color of the new khaki cramertons differ from the khaki cramertons I bought several months ago?

@aikiman44 yes, it's a darker British Khaki tone, so a bit more mushroom. The new one is first....

@Michigan Planner yup, that's the plan.. not to mention pricing around the $300 mark

Haha, so there appears to be a few items which could literally endanger my marriage should I choose to buy them for Epaulet: (1) Camo, (2) all red hightop sneakers and (3) OTR Suede jackets.

I personally like all three of these things, and I know that many brands make and sell them, but we're just unable to do it well. I thought that our suede Portugal jackets hit the best balance of quality and price that I could achieve and even with that.. they got impossible to move through. I love the idea of a suede Doyle, but it would be really expensive to make here in the States, and I don't see any way that we'd be successful with it. For leather jackets, I'm just going to stick with Aero. We make about 10 pieces a month, the quality is phenomenal, and we can customize it. I think that's going to be our only jam.

I would also love a wool Doyle, although probably not as much as I'd love a wool Teba.

@Epaulet - I know you're into photography - I've also meant to ask if the Doyle is named after Christopher Doyle. If not, I'm going to pretend it is.

@Duke Silver, I had never been into Parks & Rec but have recently been netflix-binging the series. I see your RonSwanson reference and raise you a few.

You know, the snuff suede blouson and the ghost suede MA-1 in particular both seemed like such killer pieces at really reasonable price points. Sometimes I can look at a piece and try to reason out why I think it didn't move, but those two stumped me. The only thing I can think - and I'm admittedly grasping at straws here - is that the ribbed-hem bomber silhouette isn't necessarily as traditionally flattering to as many body types as tailored garments usually are.
