So I went to the famed Denim Doctors to hem my samurai's and they use a regular stitch for the hem...I specifically requested a chain stitch and the lady assured me they could do it. I guess they aren't so great after all. Anyways do any of you LA folks know of any tailors in the South Bay Area that can do chain stitching?

Why don't you go back and have them redone? If you complain I'm sure they'll redo it free of charge. It was probably just a mixup. I sent a pair of Sugarcanes to them for chainstitching a couple months ago and they did a great job. They even matched the yellow and orange stitching.

well there's 2 reasons....west hollywood is far and inconvenient. so if i can find someone close by it is more preferable. i went to denim doctors first because i thought they would get the job right the first time, especially given their reputation. second, i guess i have lost confidence in their abilities. i dont' want to have to make a trip there to get disappointed/frustrated again.

Exactly as I thought, that one isn't really the true denim doctors, they just had the name until recently. The original and real denim doctors is at hollywood trading company on beverly and martel. The one you went to is called denim revival now and is garbage. You need to call Scott at HTC, he does the bomb work. They bought back the name "denim doctors" b/c of too many cases like yours giving them a bad name.
