Yay or Nay? Thoughts on this Banana Republic Heritage collection, appears to be traditional 3button (not 3r2, right?), Single pleats, Vitale barberis?

Fit is king - if it fits you very well (only minimal alterations needed) and the price is right (I would pay no more than $300 for what I am guessing is a fused suit and ideally less than $250) then sure. It looks like a 3 roll 2.5 or possibly a 3 roll 2. See how the top button is seen edge-on in the top photo so it is not a traditional 3 button.

We'll have to agree to disagree then. I think any fading makes denim look a lot more casual. If I were to wear denim into the office (environment corporate), I would not feel comfortable wearing any denim with any sort of fading, too casual in my opinion.

The whole idea of "dress denim" is sort of iffy. That said, there is a space somewhere in-between sort of dungarees and your dad's pleated jeans with a crease. I think it begins with a dark/deep rinse color. For me, this can't include heavy whiskering and/or fake fading. Bonobos has a Saratoga Dark Rinse that's just about right for me, but the straight fit has become so narrow in parts of the leg and in the opening that they look sort of ridiculous on me now.

I have a pair of Jean Shop Rocker in raw that I've been wearing a lot to sort of break them down, but even though the quality and color are perfect the cut and sort of texture and gauge of the denim just doesn't seem to work with dressier shoes and a sport coat.

The search continues...

Dress denim is definitely a look here in Italy. People even wear sport coats with shirt and tie with denim.

I have some navy Minnis Fresco (heavier than 10 oz. I am guessing) that I have been sitting on for several years. I have decided to make it up this spring. My simple question is quarter lined, half lined or fully lined? Thanks in advance.

Hi Guys,

Thoughts on this sports jacket?

I've wanted a casual winter jacket for a while but the pattern and burgundy overcheck is louder than anything I've worn before.

It is very distinctive, but very flexible.

Jeans, tan moleskins, charcoal or brown flannels in addition to all that Ich Dien mentioned are possibilities. Mid grey is the main thing to avoid.

Hey CM

I spent my time on the SW&D but I have to buy a suit for school.

It would be a first suit, and I know nearly nothing about suits.

Preferably I'd buy something in the 500-800 range, but considering the amount of use it would receive and that I'd like my parents support for at least a chunk, I'm more in the 250-400 range.

I have black yuketen ripple sole derbies, but pretty obviously those aren't the correct shoe choice, so I'm also interested in a pair of shoes as well. Probably 100-200, which I understand is also relatively low.

I'm sure this topic has been talked to death but I'm pretty terrible at the search function here and would like to get opinions, sorry about it being repetitive.

Thanks a bunch

Hi gents,

I’m thinking whether to keep a wine blazer or not. It’s intended to wear casual not formal, maybe mostly with flannel trousers/ sometimes jeans/chino.

I personally love the color (wine being quite versatile IMO) and the materials (E. Zegna wool cashmere blend very soft), but it is the design, or exactly the width that bother me.

I’m a 165cm short guy yet with quite well built shoulder and chest. Normally I wear Italian size 42 (XXS!) blazers mostly with a 3 inch width lapel.

However, this blazer has a 3.5 inch wide lapel. I’m not sure if it will look too old or not approripate (I guess 3 inch lapel will be in best proportion to my body height).
I enclose a photo for your quick reference. Please could you give your opinions ? Many Thanks in advance!

Would it not be wiser to buy the next size up and tailor down?

The jacket seems to be pulling an awful lot in the middle and the quarters are extremely open.

Agree on this but I presumed that was to his taste. Lapel width looks fine :)
