Well, it's a casual winter jacket. The burgundy overcheck doesn't strike me as being overly loud.

I'd want to see it on you, before saying it looks good. But just from seeing the jacket alone, there's nothing about it which immediately disqualifies it.

Yay or Nay? Thoughts on this Banana Republic Heritage collection, appears to be traditional 3button (not 3r2, right?), Single pleats, Vitale barberis? Screenshot_20180123-134938~01.png Screenshot_20180123-134946~01.png Screenshot_20180123-134953~01.png

Fit is king - if it fits you very well (only minimal alterations needed) and the price is right (I would pay no more than $300 for what I am guessing is a fused suit and ideally less than $250) then sure. It looks like a 3 roll 2.5 or possibly a 3 roll 2. See how the top button is seen edge-on in the top photo so it is not a traditional 3 button.

The whole idea of "dress denim" is sort of iffy. That said, there is a space somewhere in-between sort of dungarees and your dad's pleated jeans with a crease. I think it begins with a dark/deep rinse color. For me, this can't include heavy whiskering and/or fake fading. Bonobos has a Saratoga Dark Rinse that's just about right for me, but the straight fit has become so narrow in parts of the leg and in the opening that they look sort of ridiculous on me now.

I have a pair of Jean Shop Rocker in raw that I've been wearing a lot to sort of break them down, but even though the quality and color are perfect the cut and sort of texture and gauge of the denim just doesn't seem to work with dressier shoes and a sport coat.

    The search continues...
