I’m really hoping AE tracks down a pair of PB’s and gets them shipped. If not, I’m stuck with a $300 AE gift card and, based on the stuff that’s been said over the past few pages, exactly nothing that interests me at all. The only thing I could think would be using it on walnut Verona II’s during a sale, but I really want those PB’s...

Overcast and very cool today in my neck of the woods. Green-striped OCBD, brogues, and concrete.

Does someone have a color pic of the Ranger from the Caleres surveys they could post? People gotta see this.
You're my boy, blue.

1. To quote Simon Phoenix, exactamundo. Raising up the prices and approaching Carmina & Alden is not a good strategy.
2. Do your research on the Verona...make sure they didn't switch over to cement. I haven't found out yet.

To quote the survey, what would you pay?
I wouldn't pay for them at any price. I am not at all the target demographic. That said, if I were looking for a purpose built performance boot, I don't think I would be looking at AE. I'd be hitting up Cabela's, Bass Pro Shop, REI, etc.

As mentioned before, loafers are easy to take off and put back on when you go to the doctor.

Wore Flagstaffs today when I went to meet the new Urologist. He said one of the other doctors in the office was interested in shoes but he wasn't interested in shoes until he saw my shoes. He asked me what kind of shoes they were. (Didn't tell him they were Thirds from our favorite eBay seller and cost less than the copay.)

While on the subject of loafers (particularly woven tassel loafers like the Palm Beach) a Carmina woven tassel loafer that (unfortunately) doesn't come in US 9EEE. (My Brannock size is US 8.5EEEE.)

Regular readers of this thread may remember some people have been totally traumatized by A-E shoes that had variations in color.

On the other hand, people who buy shoes that are more expensive than A-E shoes sometimes just can't get enough variations in color as seen in these George Cleaverly shoes. (Picture from the Shoe Snob blog.)

I kinda dig museum calf shoes. Those in particular are really nice.

Oh my, did you say tan dublin? That sounds like a need! I wasn't sure if the Brown was a 'regular' grain or kudu.
I have seen the gray pop up in my size a bit, but the dark brown has been elusive. There's one on the bay right now, though the pics are terrible. I asked the seller to send some more in better lighting.

Might wanna keep an eye out for the AE Fenway. It has an Othello rubber sole, poron insole and is based on the 511. I am confident that it is Dublin as I have a custom made wallet in Dublin that is a close match to the Fenway leather. Someone on this forum has a pair of them as well as me as I see them posted every once in awhile. The Aberdeens are another animal with the toby mini lug sole but these are not entirely different (I have both but prefer the Fenway, mostly in winter).

Thanks for the tip. I like the leather, but apprehensive about that sole. The reason Neo brings up the Aberdeen and San Marco to me is strictly because of the 222 last they are made on. It works for my narrower-than-D with low volume feet. I have the Sanderson, made for Ralph Lauren, and it is great!

Wow -- I'm having flashbacks from my time in a Vietnamese prison camp -- except that I've never been to 'Nam. Yegads. If AE is trying to make an actual, honest-to-goodness hiking boot -- OK. My merrells, keens, and Danners aren't known for their beauty. I'd actually love to try a genuine AE hiking boot, if AE were to make one. But if this a fashion boot -- yuck.

I hate to re-use my old stuff, but what the **** is up with these giant "Genuine Horween leather, made of natural tanned...etc." tags they're putting on everything? You can get a better look at a T-bone by sticking your head up a bulls ass, but wouldn't you rather take the butcher's word for it? Shouldn't the product quality speak for itself?

I don't mind it. I think it could be useful to those new guys like me in 2015. Back then, I had no idea what CXL was.

Lunch with my wife today. Wore the Strandmok's.
