I personally hate striped socks. It is a new hate in my life.

I'm not far behind you there buddy. :embar: I can tolerate the vertical stripes - but not the currently popular horizontal stripes (which I REALLY hate.) I much prefer small scale patterns.

To avoid angering the establishment, I decided to wear argyles instead of my stripes

I personally like horizontal stripes and love them when they are on a bias. Being tall and skinny, vertical socks make my ankles look even smaller than they really are.

Howie,

Thank you for avoiding the horror of striped socks!

I like the colors of this combo. I'm still a bit confused by summer shoes with winter flannel trousers. Although I realize you live in a climate that is sort of a 'mix up' of summer/winter and thus the combo probably makes perfect sense from the perspective of your envirnment. Just having a hard time wrapping my 'East Coast' mind around it. :D

This I can respect. Decisions based on YOUR build, YOUR body type. What works on one does not necessarily work on another. (Personal preference aside.)

You know, I didn't even think of these shoes as summer shoes. I was just thinking nice brown leather, but the fact that they are foafers totaly slipped my mind!
I'm glad you caught it. It must be your eastern sensabilities

Well, it's as much the fact that they are woven as it is that they are loafers. Woven shoes exist to provide extra ventilation for hot weather wear. They are quite 'breezy' in general. I bet if you ever wore them in sub freezing weather you'd understand. :D

In any case - it's a minor thingy - I only bring it up to help us all learn from each other's experiences, knowledge.

Thanks for being a good sport - none of can learn if we can't play nice!

You keep on wearing those striped socks and I'll keep on calling you Pippi! Dealio?
