And I need every bit of the fullness of the Rain last and can't get the decidedly narrower Simpson to fit at all.  By the time I get a Simpson sized up enough to accommodate my forefoot and instep, it is far too long.

Here are our new Carmina boots.  All on the rain last.  Have a great weekend!

That wingtip and blue suede are just ridiculous. And by ridiculous I mean that I need to find a quick $1500 so I can buy them. Anyone have that kind of money just laying around that they can donate to my shoe buying fund?

is that wingtip boot in shell?

The wingtip boot is chromexcel.

^^^ I would not have guessed that - it has more of a sheen than I am accustomed to seeing on chromexel.  Really a beautiful boot.

Since it is new with no creases it looks like shell.  It is a unique boot.  You have the formal design and last with a tough leather.  That can handle Canadian winters. :bigstar:

How is chromexel leather in relation to shell and calf?

Here is a thread on chromexcel, with posts by Nick Horween.

Thanks for that info! I have never experienced it but I have seen images of CXL and this looks the best.

Chromexcel will wrinkle a little more but it is so easy to brush up and it can take all kinds of bad weather.

Ive had the window open all day with the picture of those boots. FUCK

Do you care for these as you would shell? In that link posted above there are differing views
post #419 of 731

Chromexcel requires just a little brushing and some neutral shoe cream.  Some people use venetian cream also.  Mostly a quick brush and they clean up nicely.  Way easier than shell.

Some black calf Edward Green for your week.  We all need at least one black shoe in the closet.  Let me know if you have any questions.
