It looks the right size to me. Waistband will ride up as you move and look less posed than in the photo.

I have that same colour in a Harrington which I think is too small on me. It is one of 3 different colour Harringtons I have - all XL, all slightly different. As I result I mostly wear the other two.

Thanks, gents. Yeah, I'm quite fond of the colour myself. I appreciate that it's 'correctly' sized so I'm not blaming JtG's sizing charts or anything like that. I'll probably end up sizing down to avoid the N. Korean dictatorial jumpsuit look which is no doubt partly enhanced by my chubby asian features.

Incidentally, the harrington might explain why so Kim Jong-il is so damn good at golf.

I think they fit slim, but like almost every harrington, if you go with your tagged size, you get more of a classic fit (aka roomy). remember a harrington wasnt intended to be worn as a slim jacket, it was supposed to be roomy so you could play golf in it.

Original Skinheads wore roomy everything, Harringtons, was worn baggier, including Shirts, and Jeans, Later Skinheads seemed to wear everything tight.
One thing that i have always done wearing a Harrington, wear mine zipped up.. and bloused around the waist.

The exception, maybe, was suit jackets, which were tailored/waisted (but not too tight).

Our Levis and Lee jeans had a Parallel fit in the leg, maybe thats why we had our suit trousers cut parallel also.

I've been looking for those for ages too mate.
I know that the chaps used to wear wing tips back in the day , but I think MoM said that the late Mods wore a clumpier brogue. I know that's what all the late 70's/early 80's Skinheads were wearing round our way, not an original shape, but I prefer them.
Albion, remember these Army Cadet shoes? Early 80s vintage. I'm sure lads wore these as either a nod towards 'Smooths' or just cos they were shiny! (and cheap)

Saying that I might get a pair!

The above shoes are not Skinhead Shoes, I can only talk about the late 60s, The only Brogues worn in W London was the Double Long Wing-tip, As i have said the Original Skinhead style was a uniform, If anyone turned up in say ordinary brogues they would have the piss taken out of them for weeks.

I have seen present day skinheads wearing none Long wing tips brogues but maybe they do not know.. or care.

^ I think what it is mate is that originals know exactly what the look was back in the day and will look 'right', whilst the younger folks draw their influences from the late 70's/80's with a mix of the original look. I know what you are saying about the 'pure' look, the rigid uniform, but the revivalists took a bit from all the years, say 67 to 71 and mixed them up to buggery with a late 70s take on it.

Lasttye, do all you originals get grilled at do's about the late 60's? Or is it just us anoraks that pick your brains?

To be honest Bunty most people get so pissed, and well beyond caring

You are right about 79/80s. they do seem to have a look of their own, not sure if they know the look or care, Some dress like the Originals but very few, Even some original skinheads that get to Doos these days, dont seem to get the look right, or have just forgotten

The simple look, the suit i am wearing in this pic is the exact copy of my first suit in 69, Dark blue Dormeiul mohair, My mate Tom is wearing a very similar suit, Yes keep it simple.

I think Alex and Lasttye are both right. It was a uniform in the sense that some things were accepted and others were not but it was not like a school uniform that demands total compliance.

What it does to you as a participant is to give you a code that never leaves you. So the shoes depicted would probably make most of us throw up

I like that simple look!
