Yamazaki 18. Nope, doesn't help my cold. Back to green tea.

I dunno...I've been spoiled by good bourbon, perhaps forever? Except for the Islays, I find myself lingering over Stagg & Pappy more than anything else.

It won't be forever, you're just going through a phase right now. At least you picked the good stuff.

In terms of getting into, or back into, non-Islay scotches try a big cask strength sherried one like Aberlour A'bunadh or Glenfarclas 105. Those might have enough power and complexity to help you move on from Islay.

I'm drinking Harviestoun Ola Dubh 18 now. Pours jet black, with virtually no carbonation. The nose is amazing, the Highland Park 18 really shines through, just a touch of peat. The palate is good too. Very malty with some notes of wood, caramel and smoke. Still, the nose is better than the palate.

Not a fran, too much "grass" in this rye. My favorite ryes are Thomas Handy Sazerac, Michter's, and PVW. Then again, I am a total no0b when it comes to rye, so take that for what it's worth..

Having a double of Eagle Rare 17 year old. Long week and just found out I am being asked to take a new job, tons more responsibilities, in a "fix it" role similar to what I just finished doing for the last 2 years except in a different area..
