Another thought. Buying a quality piece will have some resale value. Spend $500+ and you can probably resale $250. Close to the cost of a rental. I say YOLO it. Wearing something that is fitted/altered makes a difference in the way we look and feel.
Yeah ig there's this option too. I wouldn't count on selling it though. I think it just depends on how well I could get a rental to fit

For the prom: some things to think about: if you have a date, talk to her about it and take her to rental if she's a GF. If you don't have a date, it seems like you might have an overly romanticized thought that showing up in a precisely fitting tux will make an impression. Life is not a romantic comedy. Obsessing over getting a perfect fit tux for a prom isn't goint to have the return on investment you think it will. A decent fitting rental is going to be fine. Unless all your friends and classmates are buying their own tuxes I think your focus is a bit off. It should be on the social aspect - your date, your friends and their dates or just you and your friends if you're going without dates. I would only look into buying/altering if what rental places provide just fit horribly - or your date is insisting a better fit.

  • Always - Sustainability is a top priority in all my clothing purchases.

  • Often - I frequently consider sustainability, but it isn't the main factor in my decisions.

  • Rarely - I seldom consider sustainability when purchasing clothes.

  • Never - Sustainability is not a factor I consider in my clothing choices.
