I don't think any tailor is worth it without fittings ... especially the first time around.

I got a suit with no fittings. Looks better than anything else I own. I will be getting another on his next trip.

I'm really impressed with yfyf's suits from Chan, but is that even achievable if you're really only able to afford one bespoke suit?
I think it's worth it. But as discussed above, it's much better if you can have fittings. If you can get fittings, the first one should be much better than rtw, and subsequent ones would mostly involve incremental improvements, at least imo.

The price on the US tour is the same as in HK. The adv. of HK is that you get fittings. The adv. of the tour is that they come to you. You can get fittings on the tour, but you'll wait more (till they come back) and pay extra for the shipping both ways, I think. Someone has posted about this before.

Did not order anything, want to wait and see what the latest Chan trousers look like post Patrick's changes. I did see a few appealing options though:

- Breanish (was called Shetland 7) - was a great looking brown with green overcheck
- Blue nailhead in the grand cru book (not sure this is worth it though, was major $$$)
- Good looking blue nailhead in Harrisons Oyster book, had never heard of this book before, I think it was 13oz, looked to be very hard wearing

That might be a bit much for me. I can't imagine waiting a few years for a suit to be made.

Who is waiting a year between fittings (except for Solito customers

) ? Chan visits every 4 months.

Anderson & Sheppard visits the West Coast only once a year. Well ... the last time I checked that was so.

Interesting - they visit NYC more often (2 or 3 times / year)

Yes, they do visit NY more often ... take a look at your next A&S mailer. That fact that they visit the West Coast less often ... can ... of course ... be seen as incentive to fly to London. After all ... Paris is only a short hop away.

Huh. That's better.

So then, with three fittings, would this still basically be a year process to get a Chan suit?

I can't think of any reason to do three fittings unless your body is very difficult to fit. First meeting for measurements and order, second meeting 4 months later for basted fitting, after that you can elect to get the finished suit in the mail (usually about 2 months later) or get another final fitting (8 months after order), then get your finished suit in the mail.

So, I'd say either 6 months or 10 months to get your first suit. You wouldn't do a basted fitting for following orders unless there's significant changes to make (e.g. db vs sb, lost/gained a lot of weight, etc...)

You'll have a suit two months after the first fitting. Only in the less than 50-50 event that it requires another trip back to HK for adjustment will it be a year.
