I find warm colors to be generally harder to wear than cool. Not a fan of color theory in menswear, but certain warm colored fabrics, especially in big pieces such as a suit, can be harsh against the skin. This is why, I find, warmer blues, such as ones with a purple cast, are harder to wear than cooler blues, such as a true navy. You have to be so much more intentional with the other items in your wardrobe too. A warm-colored jacket tends to look more colorful and then you have to seek out the right pair of pants. Whereas most men have cool colored grey and khaki pants, so they're easier to match with similarly cool colored trousers.

Plus, you know, tan suits are basically the same as treason...

Tacky gold-diggers with no taste?

I’ve never encountered a gold digger but I do seem to garner attention whenever I go out. Regardless of what i'm wearing. Girls love my bald head, hotrod.

I like the cloth, it looks nice and wouldn’t mind making it up. I’d actually go with Steed and ask them to make it slightly shorter. My steed jackets go really well with jeans.
@lordsuperb, below is a Steed MTM jacket that is a bit shorter like Forex said and I wear it with jeans. Your call whether you think it looks good but I do agree that longer and more structured Steed doesn't work that well with denim.

What about Solito? Not sure where he goes in the US now but I know he's been to SF recently as @Mr. Six has something in the works. I believe @dieworkwear helped put it together?

I’ll get Edwin's thoughts when he's in town. Also, I’m not looking to use any new tailors that's another disaster waiting to happen.

Lighten up, Francis. That fabric will make a smashing sport coat. I'd wear it out, no problem.

Lol he was still wearing suits to barbecues last time I checked.

Very nice. So is the purple cashmere. I asked Edwin to make an in-production sport coat a little shorter. Clearly not his preference, but he accommodated me. I like the length of his jackets for suits but thought slightly shorter would be better for a sport coat. First fitting in a couple weeks!

lol I asked him to make my second suit shorter and was happy with how it turned out at the base fitting. When I got the final suit he definitely wasn't happy with the length because he changed it back to the original length of my first suit.

Obama's cooler colored tan jacket, if it were in the right weight and weave, can be worn easily with grey pants. Luca's yellow-ish jacket, on the other hand, can only be worn with those trousers.

Highly agree with you on this having done experimentation with my 9 blazer suits trying to break them out to wear as odd jackets. The purplish navy ones definitely work best...da others unfortunately I feel work best as a full suit

? Underdiscussed aspect of bespeaking stuff: makers have their own preferences, and they're the ones making the stuff!

It drives me nuts. Especially when you ask them to do something and they say it can't be done and then they make a twitter post about it for a new jacket they're making 2 days after they deliver your jacket. :brick:
