Purchased a present for my wife. It is a SS JLC reverso duetto.

@in stitches Thanks for the suggestion. I ended up buying from Govberg.

That JLC looks stunning! I think she will enjoy it a lot!

Thanks Guys. My wife loves it. She tried both Duetto (approx. 33 mm x 20 mm) and Duetto classique (approx. 38mm x 23mm). She is quite petite with a small wrist...the classique actually didn't look too big on her wrist as we thought. Eventually she opted the smaller one.

Govberg guys are very nice. And yes, they gave us a deal (PM if you need more detailed info). And Govberg was recommended by Stitches! :slayer:

so the 5960 in steel is legit. Hodinkee has all the dets but it looks like its gonna retail at 55k.
Any thoughts on what this will do for the pricing of the (now discontinued) 5960p? It can currently be had for around 60k so not much of a price difference for platinum over steel... :embar:

Tudor at Basel

What a great start for Tudor and a really nice opening salvo for Basel. I will say I prefer the patina'ed markers and burgundy bezel of the Heritage Black Bay currently on the market, but this is a really clean and smart alternative. Really excited to see what else Tudor and Rolex have in store for us tomorrow.

I know this watch received some criticism when our venerable Frilly previewed it for us earlier this week, but I have to say, I really, really love the looks of it. With one caveat -- I think the bracelet is seriously underwhelming, particularly compared to the Nautilus, Royal Oak, and Overseas bracelets, which all look better finished and are more interesting. If I can have the watch on a strap, then I want it badly. Unfortunately, its out of my price range at the moment regardless and I am not willing to liquidate my entire collection for one watch. Maybe save my pennies and see what happens.

What do folks think about the new Nautilus? It doesn't work for me particularly considering how much I love the new 5960. But I imagine with its useful complications, that it will be a welcome addition for some.

A really promising start to Basel and much more impressed already as compared to SIHH. Looking forward to waking up to some more surprises tomorrow.

A lot of blue around here the last couple of days, which is definitely a good thing. I need blue in my life.

Tudor at Basel

I think the red one is so distinctive it kind of has to be the Black Bay, but I'm liking the blue Black Bay too. And it seems the blue theme on TWAT has coincided with a lot of blue coming to Basel:

I like this steel 1945 a lot, so much more interesting and lovable with the blue dial and strap. And rose gold against blue looks awesome on the 1966, although the 3 o'clock date is like a herpes sore on Kate Upton.

As an interesting segue from the Black Bay, here's a real oddity that doesn't look like a Submariner or anything else. And it's blue. From Muehle:

Interesting back story on the three minute bezel markers. I'm not sure it's exactly beautiful, but it definitely looks serious and practical, and I'm liking the oddness of it. And did I mention it's blue?

(Stitchy and Frilly, blueness is coolness...)

I like it. A lot more on the wrist than in pictures. You would not be short of volunteers to give it a home.

i also just copped a seiko SSC081 for cheap. probably not expensive enough for this thread but i love the style.
