@kbadgley84 That top pin is a WWII Navy air crew combat wings badge. The ship on the back of his jumpsuit is the USS Randolph, which served in WWII.
Looks like he was a WWII Navy pilot. Pretty cool stuff.

By the the way, check the WWII wings to see if it's Sterling Silver; I believe those were.

Back patch says 1957, the recommission of the Randolph that was sent to the Mediterranean
His flight log has him flying missions where he encountered enemy pilots
