Anyone recognize the maker of these boots? They were giving me a bit of an Ann Demeulemeester vibe but of course the insoles were ripped out. True thrift so not out a lot if nothing special.

But that’s not even Screen Stars tho, bro! lol

upload_2019-1-17_22-53-37.jpeg

This one! EDIT: Whoops, yeah, that’s something else. :embar:

Are you guys grabbing the screen stars?

(I meant to say it was pretty mind blowing to hear there’s a David Allan Coe biography and that I’m going to hunt that one down post haste).

EDIT 2: I’m behind on Ray Donovan. This is great news.

Yeah, but that one in the pic I quoted is BEST by Fruit of the Loom, right? Looks super close to the SS tag and is still one of the best 50/50’s out there. I don’t grab anything solely based on the tag but SS tees always get a closer look from me.

And yes, the DAC book is actually an autobiography, so in his own words. And he does the reading himself on the audio book, which is on YouTube in several parts. It’s a great listen.

BTW if any of you gents run across cutter-grade black, gray (any shade), white,, or dark red 100% cashmere knit objects - solid or in designs like argyle, Nordic or (this is a far fetched wish) stars....I'm making a patchwork project. I do not want to cut up any Cuci. Or, you know, Hermes. Or anything with a name that makes your heart stutter when you find it (unless it has a whopping great hole in it and you can pick it up for a couple bucks.) Will reimburse + shipping. I need another 5-8 sweaters in a mix of those colors.

Found nothing today. Yesterday a Trina Turk bright print tunic top. These sell consistently. Call it "fodder".

I don't normally spend time looking at sunglasses – as it's all China, China, China, much like Alfani, Stafford, Saddlebred – but every so often a pair that I see in passing practically yells at me to instakop. And so it was with this pair:
fullsizeoutput_8cd.jpeg
fullsizeoutput_8cc.jpeg
fullsizeoutput_8ca.jpeg
fullsizeoutput_8cb.jpeg
I've worn regular glasses my whole life, so sunglasses have never been on my radar, and therefore I don't know a lot about them. But as far as I can tell, these are Oakley X-Metal Juliet (1999? but please weigh in), so a decent kop for six bucks, looking at the resale values.

So couple questions for the Oakley experts: these are built like a tank, with really solid metal, but I notice everything on the frame is a bit flexible or "loose". Yet it looks as though all the parts and refurbishment kits/services are readily available. How much "flex in the system" is normal for these? Is is better to refurb? Or sell as is?

Edit: damn, all of a sudden I see why the thread sunglasses mavens are so hot on it. These things have stories . . . Some research suggests that these Oakleys were made famous by Eric Bana in Black Hawk Down.

Bana.png

The ones he's wearing are in, I think, a TiO2 finish, and have a straight ear stem. The polished finish, that I picked up are the only model of the Juliet that has a hammer stem.

Too cool. THat's what I love about thrifting. Always learning new stuff.

Nice grab @Sartoriamo ! Those were one of my favorite sunglasses back in high school. They are awesome looking by themselves! Paired with most faces, not so much, haha. Still love them! They were good enough for Cyclops and Ichiro, after all.
I’d just throw them up with a decent buy it now somewhere in the range of eBay comps and mention they’re a little loose in the description. It’s to be expected of glasses that age.

EDIT: I just looked up comps for those and Romeos. Looks like I need to ask my mom to go through my old boxes in storage at home. Holy crud. I had the Penny, Romeo, Splice, and a couple other ones of that general era. Looks like they’re becoming quite the collectibles.

What is that thing with the green shawl lapels. I mean, really, what is that?

Mine now :D but after looking at it closer im going to have to go with 1950s European custom knee length house coat.

I think the maker is actually called 'handmade". someone sent in a pair of boots from them and I feel like I got ripped off on keywords. And its nearly impossible to google.

I do not want to cut up any Cuci.

:/

Ok story time. @BennyFazio sends me a pm last week to a Craigslist link of “designer clothing”. Couple teasers of brioni and dolce but with a pretty extravagant price. I sit on it for a few days and actually kind of forgot about it. Went back to it and said fuggit, worth a shot. So I text the guy who’s about half hour away from me and he says come look.

Turns out he’s one of the stars of storage wars and has years of clothing from his locker finds over the years. I’d say there’s approximately 900 pieces in this haul. Maybe 400 were “garbage” that’s getting redonated or sold in bulk. 500 ish are keepers. I’m going to post the 1% of ready to wear here - so I’m leaving out canali 1934 suits, Boglioli, vintage YSL women’s, brioni jackets, about 50 loro piana shirts, 20 brioni cashmere and silk sweaters, purple label and more. You’re seeing the best of the best but the other 380 pieces are not too shabby.

And for the sake of posterity I negotiated him down to $4000, so PPU IS ABOUT $5. you already saw the loro brioni etc. gloves and scarves and the women’s accessories will follow shortly.

The brioni leather is lined in sheared mink.

The zilli is lined in silk.

The Prada has a Fox hood.

The other brioni is deerskin and cashmere lined.

Seraphin is fox fur.

Blue loro is cashmere pure inside and out.

Pretty sure tupac wore that same silk Versace shirt.

Velvet burnout shacket is yohji.

House coat is unsigned but hand made and fits me like bespoke.

Also e-thrifted a Belstaff nylon jacket. Feeling good but not 100% on this. Can I get a legit check? Paid less than I normally would at true thrift so no biggie if it's no bueno.

I know there was a discussion in the second thread about the brand name needing to be in all caps but I can't remember how that ended up. Any help is much appreciated!

Not an expert on Belstaff but I wouldnt kick that out of bed for eating cookies.
Haha, thanks! Here's one that needs a legit check which is definitely within your realm of expertise. No tags anywhere. There's a hole on the seam in the pocket where one may have been.

thats tough. That medusa / logo is one of the most heavily faked pieces of all time. its been on shirts, jackets, sweaters etc. Some from that era (late 90s) were very good actually. I can say ive never seen that zipper on a versace piece, or that particular jacket. That piece would have been made by Ittierre, and would have had the older Ittierre tag on it which was white and probably would have been on the side seam. The size tag would have more than likely been under the versace tag. Im leaning towards excellent copy but without any other tags its pretty hard to say.

That said, even if it is, its certainly very, very salable!
