"Lifeless" as in where's the style? The samuelsohn jackets used by most and WM Fox have the same formulaic 3.33" lapel with a generic shoulder treatment. I realized a wider lapel (4.25") with a nice roll is better suited for my frame. The lapel roll also gives the suit a nice 3-D affect that's not achieved by samuelsohn. You would have to give it a go to have a proper understanding.

I did figure out that buying your own fabric really doesn’t save money. Best deal is just to go with the books your maker can access.

I disagree vehemently - for those of you with children in this low interest rate environment, investing in Fox Flannel is the only asset available that appreciates at a rate faster than college tuition.

What'd you get?

A three-piece navy (wider) herringbone suit. It was $2100 at full price with a mid-level fabric.

Did you read this review?

I have read that review, but I'm with @lordsuperb on this, that guy actively made the process worse with his fabric and style choices and his body type was very hard to fit from the get go. I'm about to take off for the toile fitting, so I guess we'll see how it goes. I'll report back afterwards.

As far as other makers, I'd very much like to try Steed, but Paul Stewart just doesn't do it for me for whatever reason.

How many of us watched the haberdasher scene in season 2 and thought man that'd be exactly how I would use the "I heard a rumor" power.

That was a great scene.

Really like the PoW flannel suit but I'm between 52 and 54 in their sizing and neither really works. Seems like only the Armoury's Model 3 from RJ works and even that needs to be a hair longer. Ugh!

I‘m very tempted by the navy balloon ”fresco” suit. A steal at that price...

Whoa, I never said it was the customer's fault. The guy was a bespoke novice and told the sales staff what he wanted to wear for his summer wedding. The junior staff picked an inappropriate cloth for him that wasn't ideal for the climate. If anything it was Cad & Dandy's responsibility to take care of him.

Is there any difference between what you find on the Ring Jacket website and "The Armoury by Ring Jacket" from the Armoury's website in terms of quality?

From what I understand, Ring Jacket and The Armoury by Ring Jacket are same quality, full canvas, some hand work, some machine.... The cut is the main difference between “regular” Ring Jacket, and The Armoury.

There is also a Meister series available from Ring Jacket proper (not at the Armoury) that has much more hand work. Mark talks about it in one of his videos discussing Drop 93.

Knocked out 25 miles today with a stop at the Dubliner by Union Station. Went by the Wharf then up the east side of Capitol Hill. Very nice Federal row homes and the smell of marijuana everywere. Hazy IPA from some VA brewery who's name escapes me and an Irish breakfast. Mask discipline fairly impressive in the City today.
