Can someone, preferably someone with a level 5 experience of bal coats, speak on the cut/silhouette of the PS Donegal bal coat, based on this size chart?

How is it compared to forum favs KS Traveler and Camoshita Bal?

Curious about this as well. It's worth nothing that according to Private White, a Large/5 is a equivalent to a 42

Don't know if that helps but you can always compare to the Wythe coat from this season

or the KS Traveler

To me, it looks on the small side and I would need a XXL. Grading also feels unusually spaced (chest 7cm=2.75" per size - it's more typical to see 2" grading for chest)

The other coat I ordered arrived this morning, his one fits closer to what I was expecting but I think I'll keep both and try to alter the shoulders on the cashmere one:

Other coat was $150, this one was $90. DWW is definitely right about the value proposition on vintage outerwear.

Damn I like the look of this one. Its a little slim but not overly so and the belt is perfect.

Wasn't aware that raglan shoulders could be altered. What do you plan to have done?

Is it possible to alter shoulders on a raglan? The seam attaches right at the neck and goes down into the chest.

How does one search for particular coats like this?

I think both of your coats look great btw.

My plan is to just detach the sleeve lining (which I have to do anyway to lengthen the sleeves) and then just sew a new curve that's less aggressive and starts closer to where my natural shoulder. Similar to this:

Not sure what this would cost at an alterations tailor but thankfully I can do smaller changes like this on my own.

Thanks! I cast a pretty wide net with my ebay search, I might have just searched "belt coat" and then used the filters to narrow it down to pre-owned, wool and cashmere, and then set the size to anything that seemed like it would be close to my size. You could also use parentheses and commas to look for a bunch of things at once, like so:

(balmacaan, bal coat, overcoat, loden)(36,38,40)

you could narrow it down even further if you check the "include description" box and include your measurements:

(chest 22,armpit 22,underarm 22,)(sleeve 25, sleeve length 25, arm 25)

I have a saved search for suits that match my measurements although I haven't turned anything up with them yet.

Looks great - any tips on what your search terms were to find these?
