Just curious, did you guys feel the same way when SS16 was shown as you do about this show? Back then I wasn't this deep into HS so for me it didn't make a difference.
nope, I loved and still enjoy SS16. Clothes look a lot more "timeless" in regards to LA and less trendy, the music choice was great (I saw SWMRS live after hearing them for the runway music haha), and the overall presentation was simply more inline with my tastes.

I think SS21 is really bad except the location, which is fuckin sick.

I like the point about bright HS pieces. I have this black SLP sweater with a giant green dinosaur jumping out. I think it was right when he transitioned out, so wasn't quite sure if it were a strictly Hedi piece or maybe his assistants. But anyway, I receive a boatload of compliments whenever I wear it (only rarely, because it's so visible). The black sweater with the giant lips/mouth and Celine in the middle very much reminded me of that aesthetic and blood lustre.

Yeah they look like they could be good sellers. Blood luster sold ridiculously well. I could be wrong but I can see this collection being really successful. Not so much the shorts and skirts though.

I've just ordered the classic biker. Gone for 50 so hopefully it works for me.

Kind of tempted by the Celine back print grey hoody just for lounging around / casual use. Always liked back prints for some reason.

I think ss21 was a good decision. A lot of the previous collections really highlighted more formal dressed up styles that alienated a lot of people who dress casually. After building a firm foundation of Celine being bourgeoise with 8 shows, ss21 is Hedi's way of showcasing the more casual pieces he released at Celine like hoodies, ripped jeans and sneakers.

Just some more thoughts after thinking about the way Celine is heading.

I think Hedi is very good at capturing youth culture in his clothing and this is no different. This e-boy movement is strong and it's quite surprising it has taken this long for it to be represented in high fashion/designer brands as the e-boy wave has been a thing for well over a year as far as I remember. I don't use Tiktok and don't plan to, which brings me to my next point.

I simply don't connect with the e-boy aesthetic and don't want to be associated with it. The reason I love some SLP collections is because I'm a big fan of the music it relates to and the aesthetic in general. When I listened to Tokyo Tapes by Scorpions I fell in love with it. On the inside of the vinyl gatefold is a picture of the guys wearing white boots with fairly high heels, as seen in recent Celine. I don't have that same connection with this new collection. Fashion is a way of expression and me walking out in a black sweater over a white shirt with a big padlock chain would simply be fake. I imagine this would be even weirder for the guys here who are older than me because you might get the "fellow kids" effect. That said obviously you can pick and choose the pieces you like, and I think there are some pieces here that I'd want, albeit at a discount. : )

Do I think this is a good move and it will sell? Sure. Do I like it? Eh.

Always stay true to yourself. Its just a show, one season, inspired by youthful culture. Hedi knows how to connect with each new generation but he always goes back to his roots.

I enjoyed it but It wasn't particularly my style so I had to choose which pieces were fro me. Theres at least one piece from every collection that anybody could incorporate into their style.

Did you order the biker off the website? If so, do you know if they are currently selling the washed version (ss19) or the non washed version?

Business-wise, this is not a bad thing. Right now Celine has no hype or buzz or name recognition in pop culture. Rappers (and NBA players) are the real influencers these days. I love rock music and rock-inspired style, but when is the last time an actual rock artist influenced you to buy something because they wore it? Lenny maybe but he peaked over 20 years ago.

I wouldn't say none(dex and roddy ricch have songs name dropping Celine), but it's definitely nothing close to slp or gucci or lv. I think Celine is still being categorized in many peoples minds as a women's brand which will definitely be helped out by this collection. And like you said business wise more exposure is a good thing to keep the brand healthy and going.

Yeah from the website. Doesn't say it's washed so hopefully it's just classic plain leather.

I like the photos Thorns posted. I like the inclusion of more slim jeans too. Black skinny is of course my staple but the slim cuts have been a bit overlooked for a long time now.

Ha, those photos are great. If I were 20 that glowing jacket would have been too perfect for stealing the show if I were in that mood.
