Auction 13: A Set of Any 3 Customized Neckties (valued at around US$460) from @gshen and Vanda Fine Clothing

Starts immediately, ends 5 p.m. PST, Wednesday, Dec 19, or 10 minutes after the last bid, whichever comes later.

Vanda Fine Clothing is one of our home grown businesses, and exemplifies the very best of Styleforum with hand cut, rolled, and sewn, ties, pocket squares, and well appointed accessories, made mostly by @gshen and his wife themselves in their workshop in Singapore.

This auction is for a package of any 3 customized neckties (valued at around US$460) including hand-embroidered monograms and free shipping from @gshen and Vanda Fine Clothing. Choose between a wide range of fabrics, from silk grenadine in luxurious Loro Piana cashmere to madder printed silks. Modern, classic, Elton John worthy paisleys, whatever your style, Vanda has got you covered. The common element is that all of them are hand cut, rolled, and sewn by hand in Singapore.

As for all these auctions, 100% of the proceeds go to the Ronald McDonald House Charities, an organization that helps house and feed the families of children who have to travel for medical care. It's an incredibly stressful and emotionally draining time for families, and financial issues associated with loss of time at work, only compound those stresses. The Ronald McDonald Houses do their best to alleviate that stress by providing food and shelter and a home away from home for these families. I know that during this time, there are many worthy charities to support, and we really appreciate your taking part in these charity auctions.

The retail price of these pocket square is approximately $460 We will start the bidding at 1/2 of the retail, or $230. The bidding will go by minimum increments of $25. Good luck, all

Please bid generously to help the Ronald McDonald House.

Cheers,

Fok.

Rubber chicken is my middle name.

Although I'm not sure how it relates to my charity auction activities. @Fok, how did I get this name again?

It was auction related. Basically, you can thank the Food Network that nowadays, charity dinners and auctions (a common combination) are being catered by celebrity chefs and featuring tasting menus with painstakingly paired wines, so good that you find yourself bidding deep into the four figures for a teak box (true story). But back in the day, they were often held in the ballrooms of big hotels and featured the wonderful catering menu that often involved buffet lines and chicken that could be bounced off the table to no ill effect (to it). Thus, the term "rubber chicken dinner".

What's the difference between Admin and Moderator btw?
