I took a cab to work today because the subways aren't running because of "hurricane" Sandy.

I walked into my living room and will work from home.

Sounds reasonable.....

walked the 35 blocks to work this morning. Second time in just as many weeks I've had to do that.

My treadmill sounds more enjoyable. ;)

Does he wear Hugo Boss?

I had an amazing subway experience. The subway line here always runs these annoying ass PSA commercials (the stations have TVs EVERYWHERE constantly playing these things) about subway etiquette, though occasionally about how awesome the subway is. One shows a woman forgetting her bag, running to some service desk, and then eventually getting her bag back after they track it down for her. The subway employees were all smiles.

I left my bag in the subway car. Went to the service desk. In mangled Korean and through drawing I explained what had happened. They called people. Three stops later they had the bag. I was able to pick the bag up a few hours later (I had a funeral to attend) at the station closest to my house (a stop 25 minutes away from where I left the bag). The subway employees were all smiles.

Don't know if that's standard subway awesomeness. Grew up in Texas...they've not even heard of public transportation there.

for pB's opening post. Not on board with the later racial stereotyping, but the writing here is worthy of Larry David.

It is not stereotyping, it is observed behavior. Most of the observations about each race has nothing to do with their common negative stereotypes. Anybody who pretends not to see certain groups of people acting a certain way is in denial and the "that's racist!" propaganda has clearly worked on them.

Anyway - the post was absolute genius, speaking as a long-suffering user of the London underground!

There is a guy famous for hanging around a station here and following foreigners into the bathroom to try to look at their junk. I encountered him a few weeks back. He just stood at the urinal next to me; didn't even bother to pretend to urinate. I cut off midstream, too. It wasn't pleasant.

So it isn't all sunshine and rainbows.

Is it culturally inappropriate there to punch such a person?
