looking for some black derbies with a contrast semi-chunky sole, found a few that might work. planning to wear with black jeans and tapered trousers (navy/charcoal). honestly not sure if this would make me a victim of severe 'clown shoe syndrome' though... hmm.

tricker's (from the tricker's MTO thread):

dries:

acne (i know i know, but i'm willing to bet these'll hit deep discount on mrporter):

ETS (soles not as thick; good or bad?):
horsehair

calf

open to suggestions as well

I would probably rate them in the order that you posted. Tricker's is pretty underrated, imo - not sure why so many people buy Alden when trickers just look so much better, to me, at least.

Those all look really good depending on the look you're going for -- i'd say the only one that might risk clown looking is Dries one (probably just because i'm not a fan of the thick soles but will probably look good in the right context).

yeah, a little worried that the dries derbies are a little too chunky for what i'm going for - i'm on the shorter side so they might look like a shallow attempt to make myself taller

I really like the shape of the Dries derbies.

On another note, I've been looking for a navy blazer to wear to clubs (vegas), but also to wear casually for nights out on the town. Narrowed it down to these two.

Dries Van Noten Brexton

or...

Patrik Ervell Standard Blazer (If I get this, I would also get the matching formal pants to complete the look)
