My search didn't come up with an Edward Green shoe Appreciation thread, but if one exists do tell me and I'll move this pair to where they'd belong.

EG MTO: model Sandringham in whiskey shell cordovan, double oak leather soles with steel toe guards, storm welt, last 606. EG's machines left hefty marks on the shell's surface, I wouldn't recommend their MTO service for all you cordo enthusiasts.

I'm not sure I see the 'marks', but what is concerning me more are the ripples around the welt.

Look just outside the stitching...

I'm afraid the marks are very evident and , to be honest, really quite shocking for a shoe of supposed "Finest Shoes In England For The Discerning Few!" Maybe the OP can inform us if the shoes were actually "factory seconds" as to be honest i wouldnt accept those as firsts. Maybe, at the moment, Edward Green could be done under the Trade Descriptions Act for the Finest Shoes statement as they clearly are not. Its all quite depressing that theyre putting out shoes like that.

kev77, I bought these on SF's sales page from a trustworthy member. He had them MTO and I got them back when I still used derbies, but the last was too pointy and so I sold them onwards. Now they reside in the US, can't recall the member who bought the pair. Anyways, no point is favouring EG anymore as G&G have established themselves as England's finest.

Many thanks for your response, not to wish to labour a point but i wonder why the original MTO client accepted these i certainly wouldnt. Although thinking about it he may well have accepted a rebate off EG and them "moved them on!" I suppose at the right price they would still perform well and still look good. Many thanks for showing them to us VRaivio.

think he trained with Cleverly, can c the influence .. the square toe. his work's worth checking out . Prices are astronomical but IMO this is as close to perfect as poss. Kind of shoe I wouldn't wear, just admire as a work of art

Beautiful shoe...would be scared to wear in public!!

Those are a send back job. Why would you not simply buy a pair of NOS vintage shell gunboats on eBay? Those are very ordinary gunboats in last shape IMO.
