It's really satisfying. The 8 is great but I usually need a large ice cube to let things open up. This is great just neat.
Unfortunately, my current answer is "I don't know". I know that 44 is too small, and I returned them for 44.5 but instead received 45. I think I might be better off with 44.5 (there's some heel slip in the 45s), so I'm waiting to hear whether they still have a pair in that size. I'm a true 12D / EU 45 with a high instep and shorter heel-to-ball distance (long toes), and I usually take a 44 in Butteros.
They're really cool boots, and I might try to make the 45s work if it turns out I can't get the 44.5s.
Ah, good to know. So I guess I'm still not whether to go with 11 or 11.5 in Vibergs (although I might hold out until someone comes out with a side zip in the new sprung toe last, which could fit entirely differently).
Anyway, Greg got back to me that they have the Butteros in 44.5 still, so I just ordered those and I'll send back whichever pair doesn't fit.
Lag 16 is pretty much my got to for smokey scotch. I like laphroig as well but its not the same and their stronger cask strength stuff is overbearing. I find it interesting as my tastes evolved that the scotches i started with (glenlevit, glenfiddich) are no longer of interest save for the japanese gem Hibiki. Nowadays i am into smokey scotch or bourbon with a preference to rye.
Sorry about the mix-up
(I blame Willy, of course)
I still enjoy those non peated varieties but I love smokey drinks so I will always keep something smokey near by. I tried redemption 9 year rye and it was great
peat is my thing, ardbeg corryvreckan is my #1, and peat monster is very similar, but much more reasonably priced.
