The usual negative take on this kind of thing is that it’s mostly due to the influence of strangers or boredom following the acquisition of basic desires but I like to think that as we are continually exposed to things outside our comfort zone our eyes grow and our tastes expand for the better. We literally see differently
This has happened to me innumerable times with music and movies.
Tldr: my closet is now filled with things I hated or was indifferent to six years ago.

definitely true. I used to hate tyloreans and loafers and now those are big parts of my closet.

Cowboy boots come and go. I bought a relatively restrained pair (forgot brand. Justin?) when I lived in the Salinas Valley in the late 90s. They had a walking heel and embroidery but were just calf, not an exotic leather. They were surprisingly comfortable and great for biz-cash with a pair of 501s and an OCBD. Crucially, lots of people in that area wore cowboy boots on the daily. But when I moved to Philly and later Manhattan in the 2000s, there was basically no situation for which they were appropriate, even as "fashion." Plus I had to walk by the Naked Cowboy EVERY SINGLE DAY on my way to work in Times Square.

But that was a relatively long time ago. They certainly would work fine with any SLP type fit, given that Wyatts are basically cut down cowboy boots anyway.
