I've ordered several times from Yoox with delivery to Canada and have never paid duty. Luck or is that common?

    Also: great thread.

Got hit with a 61.04 UPS charge for a purchase from Kafka; so far, no invoice from FedEx for a purchase from End.

What did Kafka value the item at? What did you actually pay for it?

There's a Fedex customs/duties estimate tool for people who are interested (you will have to sign up for a basic Fedex account to access it) : https://www.fedex.com/EDT?cntry_code=bz
Of course, it wont be 100% accurate, since it really depends on how the shipper fills out the customs declaration form...but you can get a good sense of what to expect if you get hit with a customs bill.

Also, signing up for UPS MyChoice is one of the best things I've done. You can verify your home/work address(es) and the UPS network will automatically associate packages shipped to those addresses to your account. This works in conjunction with their iphone app, so I basically don't need to do any cut and pasting to track packages on my phone... I just open the UPS app and the tracking info is already there.

I got hit with $90 in FedEx duties on my Norse Store order for a pair of $230 boots shipped to Vancouver BC. It sucked haha. But still an ok purchase in the end.

I actually did buy few times on http://www.dot-mi.it/en/ they seem quick and reliable - i received my purchases in few days... and they took care of all custom duties!!
I love the selection of brands, they add new ones every season.... I wish they had more accessories though :-(

So anyone else have experience with Acrimony? Do they mark down prices? About to make a relatively big purchase but it's not worth it if I have to pay rape duty.

Just ordered from daad-dantone. Super fast shipping but they used fedex and declared full value, so I'm expecting to get raped.

nomad WILL NOT mark down, so instead of finding out people's experience from nomad, find out what your local federal and state import fees are. if the items you ordered or are debating are made in can or usa then you will not get hit that bad

So even if say Viberg or whatever retailer from whom I purchase their boots from puts down the full value, I should be mostly OK? since it's made in Canada?

Anyone have any experience with packages being shipped back to sender because delivery was not completed?

I was away for a while and forgot to tell the post office to hold my mail so they ended up shipping it back 12 days ago. No idea if they contacted Farfetch (or whatever specific boutique) because they haven't contacted me. Also don't know if they're giving it back to DHL or sending it back themselves.

Anyway just venting here and thought I might feel less anxious hearing other people's experience with this until i get a response back from Farfetch

mostly, i cant remember how it fully works, NAFTA doesn't get you 0 fees when coming across the border. in ontario for example, you still get hit with the hst, since its a sales tax, but duties will not be applied. if its form anyone not sups/canada post brokerage fees will get hit too

They and The End valued the purchase at the sale price, but when counting in duties, it just about evened out.

Kafka via UPS: got hit for $66.00 and some change

The End via FedEx: got hit for $166.00 and some change

Both were items I've wanted and could not find anywhere else.

Does anyone have experience with ordering from Triads UK?

I'm wondering about customs (They ship via Royal Mail) but also if they refund VAT on purchases to the US.

Their site says they do, however going over my invoice it appears they did not deduct it.

Recently ordered a few things from Nomad, shipped from Canada to the US via Canadapost/USPS. Got the package yesterday, and there was no customs/duties invoice attached. Does this mean I avoided fees? Or is there a possibility there will be a follow-up charge letter?
