Yup, heading back to Europe and will move to Paris in the next 8-12 weeks. While I’ve been a frequent visitor, my trips have been primarily for work and I haven’t had much opportunity to properly explore since school days. There have been a number of “visiting” Paris threads with recommendations for shoes (e.g. Dimitri Gomez, Corthay, Carmina, Aubercy, etc.), menswear shops (e.g. Arnys) and the like, but I would be extremely interested to learn more about relatively “under-the-radar” local artisans along the lines of Anthony Delos and Duret... any hidden gems much appreciated.
Other areas of interest:
•\tBest alterations tailor
•\tBest dry cleaner
•\tBest shoe cobbler
•\tOrganic/gourmet food shops
•\tBest antique markets
•\tBistros (don’t need the Michelins-starred, but neighborhood places for weekly eats)
I would also welcome suggestions for neighborhoods to consider. My office will be in the 13th arrondisement right off the Seine (metro line #6), and I’d prefer a metro commute ideally less than 20 minutes with no more than one line transfer. Am initially considering the 2nd, 3rd, 6th and 7th arrondisements, but those seem somewhat predictable choices and I’d appreciate recommendations for specific neighborhoods. I’m single (whether girlfriend moves is TBD) and have a reasonably flexible budget. Also, I’ll have a company car, so even though I don’t expect to drive on a daily basis, parking would be a consideration.
Heading out next week for the househunting trip. Thanks, SF - and special thanks to RJMan & vox for their valuable suggestions thus far.
