I saw in some prior posts photos of Lopez loafers in new gold museum calf. Does anyone know if JL still offers the same colorway? I can’t seem to find the same colorway on JL website.

Some colours, as well as some kinds of leather, have been discontinued. However you can inquire if they could do a pair as MTO in case they still have some stock left.

They have completely murdered the brand with the new marketing approach and selection of styles ..

Even their iconic models like City and Philipp do not look the same as 10 years ago ..
Leather just feels less luxurious and of less quality ..
I do not now if they actually seen any sale increase since this move with new management, but they should have cherished the tradition better than this ..

Their styles are all over the place. They seem to lost themselves .. They are trying to cover Loro Piana Open walk style of shoes that's popular for the last 2 years now, followed by loafers with thick rubber soles ..

John Lobb was always an expensive brand, but these prices now are just silly .. $2.500 for a pair of RTW shoes is a nonsense

The fact that they are selling a shoe that is meant to mimic the appearance of a galosh/overshoe says it all.

Personally, I found the couple of pairs of old stock Lopez loafers that I got on sale much better than the pair of new season ones I tried buying. The new season ones were caked with wax polish that after removal revealed bite and stretch marks in the leather. It was blessing in disguise that I had to return that pair for problems with the apron stitching.

I found some scans from Lobb's 1999 catalogue online and they have got to be the most beautiful English ready-to-wear shoes I have ever seen:

The old-fashioned, bespoke style bevelled waist on the Philip I is so much more impressive to me than any modern waist treatments and the lasts/patterns are so evocative of the best John Lobb St. James samples.

I am so jealous of anyone who was around then to be able to buy these sort of shoes.

Yes, they were stunning shoes, so much more attractive than some current styles.

By the way, I have that catalogue, from which I took inspiration for my made-to-order Adelaide and Osner.

As said, it seems that JLP has lost the right path.

Very cool! I would be very curious to know if there are any loafer models in that catalogue other than the Zilka, Ashley, Lopez, and Campus seen in the limited scans available online.

My dream shoes would probably be the Zilka, although I don't think they are available MTO anymore. It is pretty much identical to one of the bespoke patterns JLSJ has on their Instagram. The Fencote is still available MTO, but its toe shape does not work well for my feet. As I learned with the Lopez, a less asymmetrical toebox with more length and space on the outside edge works better for me.

There are also the Columbo and the Mambo, it was a small catalogue, the choice on loafers was limited to the mentioned models. The Zilka is my favourite as well.

Not much to love from John Lobb lately, in fact a lot of casual, uninteresting and uninspiring, in some cases even ugly models.

Among the most attractive I would put these ones.

The Manchester.
