Haha I am not discouraged. I posted the outfit to show what worked not well. :)

Burgundy is the glen check trousers. Brown is the suede belt and unseen chukka boots. Thanks for the encouragement!
Here are a few of my yellow tie looks.

The first three are suits. The last was worn with gray trousers. Apparently, I have a go to square with this tie.

well it’s been a hot minute since I’ve posted on here so I figured now’s a good as time as ever to post and share a quick life update. After more than a few years of struggling through classes and retaking several classes (including a dreaded stats 3000 classes), I am finally graduating college in 6 weeks! As such I’ve been applying for jobs across the country including game warden positions in Florida and New Mexico and several wildlife biologists positions across the U.S. so hopefully I’ll post more pictures on here as I do more interviews. Anyway today I’m wearing my windowpane samuelsohn suit with a no name brand tie and a Jo’s. A bank dress shirt with my Allen Edmond park avenue which aren’t pictured also @anacutestyle I still have those vintage polo Ralph Lauren pants that I still need to post, don’t worry I haven’t forgotten my promise!

Guys, could I ask for some advice here? I am (slowly) building my wardrobe and I’m a novice in regards to pretty much everything.

I am looking to buy my second jacket (I have a navy one) and also a coat. I really like this gray one, more than I do the checkered pattern I tried on, I think because I am still getting a hang of things and gray is an easier color.

Also, what do you think of the coat? I was looking for a gray one but it was sold out. Do you think they’d look out of place if I wore jeans and boots with them on occasion? And is it too small?

Many many thanks everybody!
I think a grey herringbone jacket is a great choice if your style lends a bit more casual. Goes well with jeans, chinos, cords. My biggest annoyance with my grey herringbone jacket is you can't wear it easily with grey flannel/high twist trousers (maybe charcoal depending on the shade) which are a big chunk of my "dressy" odd trousers.

I'm not sure I love how these jackets look on you though though. I think the buttoning point is a bit too high, which combined with the full lapels/high gorge makes the overall balance look off. I would keep looking - there are a ton of places that have grey jackets like this.
