Rained a bunch in the city today. Luckily, I got to work before it got bad and it was trailing off when I left. First wear of this vintage Polo Ralph Lauren trench coat. Believe it or not this is a size small.

Hi everyone! I know it's not coat season yet but I am thinking ahead and I couldn't resist buying this Anglo-Italian Martingala today. The main goal is to wear it with separate jacket/trouser combinations and suits. Can I get your thoughts on it?

I think it ticks quite a lot of boxes, it's made in a wonderful heavy 25 oz cloth, has a nice shape, the correct length (hits right below the knee) and the back is very sexy IMO. The only thing I'm not sure about is the lapels - they're a little on the narrow side. I don't think they're unbalanced but I'd appreciate an opinion nonetheless about how it looks overall.

Agree with your assessment but it’s one of the better RTW offerings out there if you’re set on not getting something made up. Most RTW ulsters and polo coats look like complete crap. If you’re debating whether or not to keep it, Ring Jacket makes the best RTW offering I’ve seen and may be worth taking a peek at. But for the purposes you described the look, weight and texture of the cloth should do quite well.

Is the suit you had made bespoke a while ago? I think I saw it somewhere on one of the threads. It looks great!
Yeah, that's the one. Thanks, I agree it does look quite sharp overall. It suffers from a few fit issues and it's actually going back to W&S next week for adjustments.

The fountain in the South Patio at Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal and me early yesterday morning before I went to San Juan Capistrano.

On a totally different subject, the mooncakes I got at the Sunmerry Bakery on Sawtelle Blvd in Sawtelle (Los Angeles 90025). Yesterday the trains in both directions were filled with people going home for the Mid Autumn Festival.

The coat looks overall good, fit is also good, except maybe for the sleeves, which look too long to me. I share your considerations on the lapels: they are too narrow for me. I'm not a fan of that gap between collar and lapel either: for me the edges should go parallel.

I think it looks great. I see what you mean about the lapels, but I think they look balanced and restrained, which works well in a coat with other "bold" features. There's a tendency in a lot of makers to go "one more" and have too large collars, lapels etc., which often leads to a cosplay look.
