As we were scrambling to get out the door in something restaurant-nice but cool, I'd put on linen pants and no-show socks, but the small patch of leather-on-skin at the tongue (?) was making them feel hot. A switch to some nice Merino wool socks solved that problem. Wool seems counter-intuitive, but damn if it didn't work.
Maybe that's why sheep are covered in the stuff?
