Nope this is Horween's Chromexcel, the analine version which is tanned with a natural crust. It does somewhat have this effect when the toe gets beat up but does not look like a brush-off leather and really shouldn't lose it's color if conditioned periodically. A teacore leather would be a great idea though.

Impromptu date night brought out the Travelers

As we were scrambling to get out the door in something restaurant-nice but cool, I'd put on linen pants and no-show socks, but the small patch of leather-on-skin at the tongue (?) was making them feel hot. A switch to some nice Merino wool socks solved that problem. Wool seems counter-intuitive, but damn if it didn't work.

Looking great, good color combo. Wool has the interesting effect of warming in winter and cooling in summer. Maybe that's why sheep are covered in the stuff?
