I guess I’m fortunate.
10D most Allen Edmonds lasts, Alden Plaza and Grant lasts.

9.5D Alden’s Barrie and TruBalance lasts, and GS Leo last. All are comfortable, and fit well. Current GS collection to keep it relevant.

One of the sensations I notice in these Diesel boots, as somebody who does not wear dress shoes often, is how the insole feels slippery under my sock. I have a foot which tends to splay out a little when I walk, and so I feel my toes and the ball kind of moving as I walk. The only other time I've had a pair of shoes that do this was with some Ecco moc toe shoes. Anybody else have this issue?

This tends to depend on how much wear is in the shoe. Brand new shoes will likely be slippery as it’s new leather insole. As they break in, the leather and cork moulds to your foot and results in less slipping.

It’s a gift and a curse. Lol!

I realize this is wildly the wrong place for this question but in case you or someone else has experience, can one of you guys help me out? I'm interested in either the Cykel or Freedom from White's but I have no idea on even ballpark sizing - just looking for a starting place really.

My brannock is a 7.5C, low volume, high instep. I can pretty much wear sizes from 6.5D all the way to 8B, but the majority of what I own is 7D - most AEs, most lasts. Quoddy & Rancourt. Alden Hampton, Plaza, Leydon, 379X, Aberdeen, all 7D. 7D in western/cowboy boots.

I wear a 6.5D on the Alden Barrie, Trubalance, Modified & everything so far from GS - UK, Leo, Alexander.

If this is significant, I could never really dial in a proper size in my Redwing Beckmans - 6.5E was too short, 7D was too big. Wound up going with 7D and adding the Redwing branded insole.

Am I looking at a 6.5D, a 7D, a 7C or something else entirely on the Whites? Biggest concern with a pull-on boot would be - can I even get them on with the high instep? Do I need a 7 just for that? Will that make them too big in the long run? What kind of padding do they use?

Thanks in advance -

Unfortunately, I have no experience with White’s sizing. Sorry…

I remember a recent time you chastised me for posting about a GS drop....hmmm....pot meet kettle much?
I hope my posting a link to their website was not in poor taste. A tacky screenshot just hit me the wrong way at the time, apologies. And I can tend to be overly critical. But I've noticed GS has not been posting their new releases here as they have done traditionally.
Post away!

Correct. I’m 11.5d/12d HTB but 10.5ee HTT. I _should_ be an 11.5 in GS but the almond toe knocks me up another .5 size to compensate for large toes/splay. A bit loose in the heel and the laces touch on the ankle, but decent fit up front. In a friendlier Munson toe I can do 11.5.
Hmm, I have two pairs arriving today (Diesel and Edward) and I am a little worried how they will fit. I am a UK10 in the C&J 341 last and I was advised by CS to get a US11 which I guess equates to UK10.5. I am worried they are going to be a half size too big.

This whole online sizing palaver for nice shoes that are available by mail order only really bums me out.

Why would anyone ever chastise anyone else for posting about a GS drop in a GS thread?

Oh man I am so sad. My Maduro Cordovan Edwards and Saddle Tan Diesels arrived and the sizing advice I was given of 11D is not accurate and they are simply too big for me; far too long (over an inch of space), a little too wide and they bend in the wrong places when I take a step. They are way bigger than even my UK11 sneakers (!) and I should have sized as a US10.5. Hell, I wonder if even US10 would fit

I paid around $150 for shipping and taxes and to ship them back would be another $50, so if Grant Stone customer service are unable to help me get a replacement easily enough then this is going to be a very expensive sizing lesson. :uhoh:

What a shame as they really are beautiful and the construction seems amazing... :(

Alright, Grant Stone experts: over the past few months I've purchased 4 pairs (Ottawa in crimson CXL, Cap Toe in brown calf, longwing in cognac pebble grain, and Chukka in tan suede) and I've become a raving fan.

Q: I want to get the Ottawa in bourbon suede, but it has a leather sole. Since I live in the rainy PNW (climate change notwithstanding), I've got a bit of anxiety about that. Do I (a) stick with leather, and assume an earlier than normal resole will be needed, or (b) slap a (Vibram or other) topy on there?

TIA!
