Im confused about the walnut color of the mcallister wingtip. are there different shades of the walnut? on the allen edmonds website, it looks like this. it says walnut calf. is that a different walnut than the walnut in the second picture? i love the second shoe better than the first one. ( lighter shade)

The AE web site photos are controversial. Many find the lighting to be unrealistic.

Best to google the shoe itself to find real life images. The second image is more indicative.

The color is not always going to be exactly the same in real life, but it it mostly the lighting in photography that makes the biggest difference.

Hadn't even realized I had an account here, but I just had to share how much I'm in love with my Daltons. Not looking forward to putting them away when the snow rolls through.

Do you all wear Daltons in the snow??! I would think the long branch would be the way to go or some other boot with a rubber sole.

Thinking about getting my first shell. Is brown shell on the strand and cambridge? Or is the strand a lighter brown.

If it's a lighter brown, would be similar to the bourbon color?

If you don't count these new, special "cordovan event" colors; AE only has one shade of brown cordovan. Dark brown. I believe the only way to get a brown shell strand or cambridge is to go MTO, just FYI.

Maybe I'm miss understanding. Are you saying the standard brown shell strand and cambridge aren't as nice as a custom mto?

I could be mistaken, but I didn't think the strand and cambridge are offered as stock in brown cordovan.

I just checked. Yes, the Strand is available as stock, but not the Cambridge.

Not to be confused with the new deep dark brown.

The standard dark brown appears medium compared to the new deep dark brown.

I love the standard dark brown but am considering a 'deep dark brown' pair of Leeds.

IMO, whichever brown you select will look great with either shoe.

So with the new custom shoe creator tool, it seems only the Neumok is available without upcharge. I was under the impression that more of the styles were intended to be freely customizable. Am I mistaken?
