Hey guys, finally managed to obtain my ‘grail shoes’ this past week, a pair of shell MacNeils via eBay. Anyhow they are pretty dark, and I’m wondering how to lighten them without too much work. Thoughts? Cheers, J

The sun is a mass of incandescent gas, a gigantic nuclear furnace.
It will also lighten your shell.

So, they look really freaking awesome as is. I'd leave them alone to lighten naturally. If you insist on lightening them, also know it may be hiding a blemish on the shell.
1. They seem darker than usual for AE. I wonder if the PO darkened them with polish. If so, pull that off for a quick lightening.
2. Stick them in a high light exposure window for several months. Make sure it's not coated with a low-e or anything. Make sure to rotate for even lightening and keep conditioned. It's easy to let this get out of control and dry them out.
3. Strip the finish completely off.

Again, I recommend leaving as is n but here's some options.

Why lighten? To my eye, they are handsom "as-is."

Wear them and love them. They should lighten over time. You could leave them in the sun, rotating every day. That seems like a lot of work to me though.
