Speaking of polished cobbler and chemical alterations, I decided to wear my competition 15 dollar McAllisters as a day early Wingtip Wednesday entry (I've put them in my weekly rotation - for science - so as to see if the uppers have longevity issues without their polyurethane shell). So far the only issues I've noted have nothing to do with the PC removal: a previous owner, with feet many sizes too large, wore the canvas lining (both layers) on both shoes through to the leather with their pinky toes (that must have been really uncomfortable), and the bunk half-resole makes the whole waist of the shoe feel wonky (and the soles are cracking at the skiving point). The reason I can wear these shoes is because, it's pretty evident that a previous owner stretched the hell out of them. I haven't decided yet if, when the crappy resole wears through, if I'll invest in having them fully and properly resoled (the welt looks a little iffy).
Oh, and I put a black splotch strip on my left shoe on the forefoot because I picked up the wrong brush loaded with the wrong (black) polish. It's probably not coming off until I restrip, bleach and re-dye the shoe (which basically means never). Note: don't work on black and brown shoes at the same time (like duh, right?!).
Happy Tuesday.
