Tan McTavish came in today, I think these things are badass. Fit is great, really excited. I know they aren’t the most rare, but I’ve been looking for a decent pair for a while.

How do you guys care for this leather? 1 coat of Bick 4 so far, thinking conditioner is all I would need?

Tons of life left on the soles, but thinking I’ll try to get the sole from the Alumnus put on whenever I need to resole.

On a BBQ note, I’ve never been able to summon the will to wait in that Franklins line, so La Barbecue is my go-to in Austin. My brother lived there for years so used to try to visit a couple times a year. I’ve never had anything in the South that comes close to that place.
I'm guessing those are 4045 McT's (Cognac), not 4035 (Tan) - unless someone darkened the sole edge and the leather a bit. 4045 had a lot of range...

Either way, they look great, and I'd just hit 'em with Bick 4 once in a while and brush often. :)

*Puts down daughters Pom-poms and sits back down in Lazyboy.

**Bites tongue and doesn't mention that I have also been eyeballing the Sterling.
Looks like Natural Stirling won this round. I do have a Strandmok already. Interestingly McTavish is a poor fit but Stirling feels awesome.

Just double checked, they’re 4035, but do appear darker. No complaints from me!

Hi everyone,

I just received my chilli. The insoles on the front metatarsal on the left foot especially had a big bump right in the middle. The right shoe has a minor bump too. I tried on my mcallister's and the sole is smooth so no discomfort at all. I haven't worn those much either.

Anyone think the bump will resolve over time. I've done a search and found some old threads talking about the issue. The retailer I bought them from doesn't have anymore so can only give me a refund. I'm trying to connect with AE on FB right now. Somehow I have trouble finding a good email so contact them by.

Overall, I've been finding little issues with all their latest stock which maybe just how hand made is is what some have surmised but when it affects the comfort of the shoe, I do draw a line there.

I have had a number of shoes, particularly on the right one, where I feel a bump under the ball of my foot. After a couple of wears, the cork footbed conforms to my feet and the issue is resolved.
I should note that the bump was never uncomfortable, simply an odd feeling. If yours is compromising comfort, I would exchange. Otherwise, wear them on the rug for a bit to see if things improve. If not, send them back.

Thanks for taking us all along on your trip,I’ve never been to that part of Tejas. Have a family friend who lives in the hill country near Mason,5th gen Texan named Scott Zesch, wrote a book about white captive children of the Comanches(including one of his ancestors) called The Captured-great read. He keeps telling me to visit in the spring for the Mason Wild Game Dinner-love to go to Austin area to Dale Watsons chicken **** bingo at Ginny’s Lil’ Longhorn as well!
