This is different though. I would normally never recommend to buy a shoe that's too tight and "break it in". But the Buttero Tanino in veg tan leather use panels of leather that will SIGNIFICANTLY change after just a few hours of wear. Unworn, the veg tanned leather is very stiff and it puts a lot more pressure on the foot than will normally do once it becomes flexible and adapts to your foot shape. It gives the impression of a shoe that is way too tight because of this stiffness. But after just a few hours of wear, you will feel it soften already. After 5-6 wears, it will feel at least a 1/2 size bigger than when first tried on. Eventually, it may even feel a full size bigger.

So definitely size the shoes to be quite tight on first try - unless you enjoy wearing a shoe that is too big.

Guys - our operations are in for a major disruption in the next 48 hours due to the imminent blizzard. Kyle & I were supposed to get back from Paris today but every flight is cancelled and likely also cancelled on Tuesday. Edouard will try to cover partially in our absence and when we're in travel/airports limbo but it will be patchy. UPS is cancelling pickups and deliveries as well. So, both customer service requests and order shipments will be disrupted and delayed. You may get a shipping confirmation email as Edouard managed to pack your order and issue the UPS label, but it may not get picked up for a while after that shipping confirmation.

Sorry about that - stay safe

Greg,

Sorry to hear about the travel delays. Those are incredibly tough. they see now talking upwards of 30" in boston! I hope you guys get home safe, but I guess if you are going to get stuck somewhere Paris is not that bad of an option?

I think Greg is just stalling to stay in Paris longer and not have to deal with the NY blizzard.

I agree with this but will add that two pairs I have have broken in differently. I have the navy and burgundy, navy is still a bit stiff and didn't give much whereas burgundy given a bit much and is now almost too big, I can still wear them with thicker socks though.
All this said, do you think that Canvass ones will give as well? I'm tempted to try the 43s in canvass but not sure how they break in.
Maybe those who have canvass ones can chime in?

Tie your tie copper herringbone...is it still available? I highly recommend it (that's also the square Emptym picked up...my favorite this season).
Is that tie cashmere? Looks pretty similar to one I picked up from Panta a few years back. Nice. Edit: I see that it's wool and it's less brown than the one I have (though the lighting in your pic makes it look quite similar). Still, very nice, and still available. You've inspired me to take a look at pairing mine w/ my Formosa gun check.

I have the canvas high tops and looks like I took one size bigger than my other pairs. IIRC the toe box felt a little low on the 43s so I sized up one.

Switching gears: anyone have any insight into sizing on the Geller lounge pants? I would normally assume a 48 for US 30, but just wanted to put it out there.

I can't believe I'm giving serious consideration to buying the lounge pants. Anyone own them and can give some general insight?

Also, any thoughts on the Gray "Larry Ferri" sweater? You just bought one, @in stitches, right?

Its amazing, thick as 2 sweaters rolled into one and insanely soft, but its pretty snug size wise. I needed an XL.

Patrick, I like those laces better than the leather ones, and solidarity on Esemplare sizing making you feel like a sumo wrester.

No, the canvas barely stretches. But they don't feel as tight as the veg tan leather on the first wears (except for the leather toe cap, which will feel low and tight at the beginning). They feel about the same on first wear as they do later. I recommend to take the same size. I wear 43 in both leather and canvas. If anything, the leather ones have relaxed to fit a tad larger than the canvas
