    The Official RRL Thread

are there any 'worn in' shots of the selvedge RRL chinos? do they develop or fade at all? obviously not to the extent of raw denim, but at all?

stopping to stitch is the opposite of a shortcut. First they've got to scuff the rawhide, then scuff the inside of the shoe where it will be adhered, then cement the lace, cement the inside of the shoe, let the cement dry, lightly hammer the lace to the shoe when dry, then probably take it to a...

exactly are you honestly not understanding? you have to lace the boat shoe exactly as you would for 360. But at the end as you get to the eyelets, instead of just lacing it up you have to stop and sew the lace into the inside of the shoe. Then they lace the upper eyelets with another...

think that through for just a second. 360 is cheaper to manufacture. with the 2 piece, they have to run the lace through completely as you would for 360 but then stop and stitch the end of the lace down. i don't see why more boat shoe companies don't do it. saves the annoyance if the...

they've been quoted saying that when you break a 360 lace, pretty much the only way to replace the lace is to either take it to a cobbler, or send it back to the manufacturer. Normal lacing avoids that problem

Shoe care (beyond the regular polishing)

With welted shoes, a friend of mine takes a hard bristle brush, and scrubs at the welt a few times a year to get grime out. I think this helps

    Eastland Made in Maine

^ Like so many of you, I too have talked to George from Oak Street and ordered a pair. I think it's awesome that they're taking the web route - which is allowing them to keep their prices lower for us. I know for a fact that retailers are calling Oak Street like crazy, but they really want to...

    J Crew Fall/Winter 2010 Discussion

I just picked up the fair isle - been waiting on it for months. Brooks brothers has the perfect fair isle (a bit more traditional), but it is only available as a vest. Ralph will surely have some great ones as well, but at higher price points.

I thought this was pretty cool. Looks like the first Quoddy to Oak Street convert. This guy posted that he has had to return two pairs of Quoddys to O'Connells due to workmanship issues (something that seems to be happening more often lately). Then, he converted to Oak Street and shows a photo...

Brooks Brothers Extra Slim Fit Shirts

I've been really impressed with the extra-slim. As a guy who gets most of his shirts tailored, the extra-slim fit surprisingly well. I was in store the other day, and they had a binder full of the upcoming line. It's very Rugby-esque. I'm really looking forward to it. I think a lot of...
