Just got home from Paul Stuart with my $80 pocket square icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif

I was able to use the gift card without any problem and just had to pay the difference. I don't think they even knew it was a promotional item. So knock yourselves out on $55 a pair socks for $5 tongue.gif

^ Great to hear.

Thoughts on using the gift certificate to buy a grenadine tie? Is it worth the money?

Since you mentioned, this is probably the 2nd piece I'm considering other than a pair of socks. Though it's more expensive, it should last longer than a pair of socks which are just consumable.
I'd also like to know about the tie quality.

brown suede loafers for $150...

not sure I am a fan of the soles, though

I stumbled across these and thought for $195 they might be an inexpensive boot option for somebody. I know nothing about LLBean shoe quality, so FWIW:

415

That is really kinda crazy... Not sure why they put a heavy duty sole on suede loafers. That's like two opposites. Perhaps that's why it's $150.

Katadhins are U.S.-made; these boots are made in the Dominican Republic. The pictures do look nice, though.

Country of origin doesn't always matter. Also, these are goodyear welted.

Not always, but it's probably a similar difference as between made in Maine boat shoes, camp mocs, etc. and the Dominican-made versions of the same. The latter are decent for the price, but then they don't cost two bills. Still, it's hard to go wrong with free shipping, and I agree that the picture looks nice.

It just occurred to me how SF has infected my life: 3 years ago, pre-SF, $200 for a pair of shoes would have had me choking on my doughnut. Now, it's an "inexpensive option" - I wrote that without even thinking. I'm so far gone and didn't even know...

So the Ralph Lauren "private sale" has opened up. For some reason, as of 7:52 am EST, the cordovan marlow tassel loafers are listed at $357.00 before the code NOV0307. So add the code, and your total comes out to about $303.45, about 62% off the retail price. I hear that they run 1/2 size large, but as with shoes, you may need to try them on to determine your size.

As an added note, the marlow cordovan penny loafers are also listed at $357.00 before the code NOV0307.
