In the metal it looks even better. Longines have really stepped up their game recently. They weren't on my radar at all when I went looking for a dressy chrono but this one really spoke to me. The quality is excellent and for the money it really is a superb watch. A keeper for sure!

Though certainly it isn't a Patek or anything, for a dailywear "bang for your buck" watch, I've gotten excellent use from an Oris TT1 Day/Date. For an automatic with a retail of only about $1200 or so, it's really held up well, looks great, and I've had no problems with it.

Looks pretty pricey to me. Vintage Longines are a dime a dozen

True, you do see them all over the place. I just was wondering with the rose gold if it would be expected to be more. My only really decent watch is a D. Dornblueth & Sohn 99.3. I'm not familiar with the Longines price points.

You might be right but I don't think I'd pay more than $400-500 for a gold case vintage Longines, no more than $200-300 for a gold-filled case and no more than $200 for a steel case

Just got my new JLC Master Geographic (40mm). I am a rotten photographer and I cannot get out a good pic. These two were honestly the best of the lot (and they're pretty sad too). The third pic is a commercial pic so people can actually tell what the damn thing looks like.

Thanks. What is the flower button? I just checked out my (admittedly low-end) camera and did not see it.

The Flower symbol on a digital camera button signifies that it turns on the feature for taking closeup pics of watches, insects, etc. Remember to turn it off to go back to normal distance photos. It should be there; every camera I've handled has it. Reading this reminds me that as a boy I had an instamatic camera. Boy, was that camera easy to use. However one paid the price for ease of use. All my childhood pictures are not very sharp at all. Reading this also reminds me of my ability to handle entertainment system remote controls. They defy me. Been doing a lot of reading lately.

how often do you guys service your watches? Some dealers suggest every 3 years, stating that you could do big time damage if you dont.
On the other hand , in real life i have known people to never have serviced their watches for 20 years and still works quite well.

An average service is around $200, regardless of which brand which is quite expensive if you own a vintage Omega of around $400 value, but would be quite cheap for a Rolex.

My answer is: it depends. Mostly on what watch we're talking about. I'm a believer in servicing only when the watch starts behaving like it needs servicing (accuracy or mechanical issues). Now, the answer would be different if I had an ultra-complicated watch (I don't) and if the downside of not servicing (e.g. major repair) was higher than the cost of servicing every 4-5 years

I'd like to see a wrist shot !

You should also try to step a bit further away from the watch and zoom in - that will often help with focus
