Lefty, by any chance are you familiar with a trainer by the name of Chris Carr?

Never trained with him but know some who have - very nice guy; very good trainer. His dog Frankie is an am bull/donovan pincher cross that has done well.

So my dog cut the crap out of her foot the other day. She was off leash in a fairly large park up among the trees and likely stepped on glass. ******* assholes drink in the park and of course have to break every bottle. She sliced off the face of one digital pad and had two punctures. One was between her toes and was a couple inches deep. Bleed like hell. She was in a **** load of pain, her lower jaw was shaking uncontrollably.

I cleaned it up and decided to take her to the vet. Of course once you walk through the door they pretty much have you over a barrel. The vet said she needed stitches and due to the painful nature of the area she needed to be put under. A mere 700$. I was tempted to just ask for antibiotics and bounce. I can bandage a wound and keep it clean but my kid is sitting there with blood on his hands and shoes looking like -well, like his dog was bleeding out- and the vet tech is telling me they need to get her into operation now and I felt like a cheap bastard for even considering it so I went along.

She was fine, got the pad sewn back on and the puncture sewn shut. She's a champ, three hours after being passed out from the morphine she was up and digging in the garden, and chasing the cats on three legs. It'll be fun trying to keep her from running for the next two weeks.

Pics are from a hour or so after it happened, I got home and took a look at it. Most of the heavy bleeding had slowed.

Pad cuts are a *****. Bleed like hell and are tough to heal. You had no choice unless you wanted to suture yourself.

+1. A couple years ago my dog cut his pad on broken glass during a walk several blocks from my house. It bled profusely from the time I carried him back to the house and then to the vet. Took a loooong time to heal.

My adolescent deerhound cut his foot and pad on a can top. I think he had stitches but the problem was the wrapping - he ended up with a splayed foot which affected his running and endurance later.
The foot appeared broken down as he aged. Too bad as he was a keen chaser.

They can heal badly. NorCal did the right thing.

"Bait guy" is better known in Schutzhund as the helper and in Ringsport as the homme d'attaque or decoy.

Yes, I am/was a certified decoy in two sports and worked as a training decoy for a club.

Got an 11 week old goldendoodle (hard to sound any sort of manly saying that) puppy this weekend and we named him Clark. He's really chill and laid back. To the point where we are curious if he is actually a puppy.

Anyone here have a bulldog? What's it like owning one?

Pretty cute - but, Clark the goldendoodle...hmmm - how about Brutus, or el Cinco, or Harry for a more manly sound? (I guess Clark isn't inherently unmanly but -- you know.) Anyway, he looks great.

Chicks will flock to you but you'll spend a lot of money keeping your Bulldog alive. Callgirls may be cheaper.

I have one and live with another, so basically have two. I don't know how people live without them. They're a constant source of entertainment. Slightly aloof as companions, but like nothing more than to snuggle on the couch. Other than playing tug of war.

My bulldog is definitely high energy compared to some. I have a lab also and they run side by side playing fetch. She definitely keeps up with him for a while.

I don't know if our dogs are not the norm, but they certainly don't fit stereotype of the fat lazy slobbery bulldog.

Definitely research breeders and pay the little bit extra for a dog with proper credentials/clean bill of health. If your dog has serious joint or respitory problems you'll end up shelling out a lot more and will suffer along with him.
