Finally went over to Barnes & Noble and had them consolidate my cards. I've got a $400 gift card for anybody who's interested. I can also break it into small pieces as well.

Also, a $90 store credit to Crabtree & Evelyn.

I've bought and sold on SF many many times, but never gift cards. How do most people construct the deal? Down payment, balance upon successful purchase?

I have purchased and sold multiple cards on SF without a hitch. Like the above member mentioned, its just like any other transaction; money is paid up front. When I purchase a card, I request that the seller both mail the card and email/pm me the card number upon receipt of payment. This way you can verify the card balance immediately after payment. Also allows you to use the card immediately...

+this ... bought 3 cards so far. i guess this is a bit more risky since they could take the money and use the gift card balance or give you bogus number but i like to believe peeps on SF are trustworthy

no probs yet. i would always encourage peeps to check feedback and post count before buying ANYTHING though. those that post a lot SHOULD be safer bets
