Do you get meat in there as well?

Shake shack is pretty overrated imo.

My order of preference is shake shack, Zaitzeff and the burger joint but all are good. IMO, Zaitzeff pricing is out of control, my sense is that they are the most expensive of the three. I'd rather spend an extra $10 for lunch at the capital grille. I have a problem with shake shack lines but if you hit it right, it's a charming place to have lunch. Last I went it was around 1:30, a light drizzle, no line, I ate at a table while holding my umbrella, it was quiet, food was great, just perfect.

Although I haven't been in a couple of years, I used to work close to smith and wollensky. While the steak was inconsistent ranging from great to good, I think the burger at lunch was the best in the city.

I used to live near the burger joint at the Meridian and ate there several times. I was underwhelmed. So my wife and I decided to go through various lists of "best burger" places in NYC. We tried about 14-15 I think over a few months. My favorites were BRGR (on 7th btw 26th & 27th I think) and Stand on 12th off Union Square.

I don't know where you are located, but I never had any problem getting awesome pizza in the East Village. Some take out places are bad relative to other NYC pizza, but still way better than most pizza elsewhere.

I kinda agree with ed here - there is some awesome pizza in NYC but there's also a million places selling terrible pizza. Pretty much 100% (maybe slightly more) of the pizza places that serve by the slice are just plain awful.

I tried Zaitzeff on Saturday. It was good but not much better than many other burger joints for me to trek down to the LES. My biggest disappointment so far has been that the last time I went to minetta tavern their black label burger was not as good as it used to be. I fear going back and confirming that the drop in quality is permanent.
