While I applaud the overproof, you should really try a stronger ginger beer to mix it with like Reed's Original, DG Old Jamaican or Barritts -- and if you can find it, I am told Blenheim makes a kick-ass brand.

EL FLORITIDA
1.5 ounces rum (10 Cane)
0.5 ounce lime juice
0.5 ounce sweet vermouth (Vya)
1/8 ounce grenadine
1/8 ounce Kahlua

Such a good summer drink. The original recipe (from the Small Screen Network) has white creme de cacao for the Kahlua. Since I dont have the cacao, I subbed the Kahlua in. The result is great. This is a good drink for people to casually enjoy next to the pool. I love straight rye whiskey, Manhattans, etc., but the summer just brings out the love of casual, sweet drinks. A plus for this cocktail is Vya sweet. I am always looking for cocktails that involve sweet vermouth because I know Vya will make the drink that much better.

Nope. A standard gimlet doesn't contain mint.
