Where do Torres and Iniesta stand? Are they going to be fit?

****. I can't set my DVR because the tv listings aren't coming through. All I'm getting is "TBA" after about 1am.

Any advice? I think I can set it manually, but I'll have to check it out.

I don't know where Torres stands as he was out for awhile, but he scored in their last friendly against Poland.

I don't think Iniesta's injury was serious at all. They still have Xavi and Fabregas among others in that midfield.

Search by category (sports => soccer) or by title. Sometimes takes time for the schedule to load into the DVR (24-48 hours).

Who are you guys rooting for?

For me, it's Holland and Spain. I watched both their friendlies and passing and teamwork cannot get tighter than these 2. Spain has the whole Barca familia midfield foundation in there and with the 1 or 2 bulls in front.

My candid (No offence to everyone) opinions on:
Brazil: Dunga has taken the samba out of their football. God, i hate Mourinho's anti-football.
Portugal: Always good on paper. That's all. If they can't do it with Figo and Rui Costa, they won't. But they got an world class diver on their team so....
England: Always promising but never delivering. Rubbish with penalties. EPL gets the highest TV coverage around the world so they tend to get the most support.
Italy: Serie A's "golden era" was in the late 80s/early 90s' with Van Basten, Vialli and Klinsmann. Now it's just defence-counter-attack. Be prepared to be bored to death if they are a goal up. God, i hate Mourinho's anti-football.
France: They needed Henry's hand to get past the Irish. And they were merde in their friendlies. I mean how do you lose 0-1 to China in front of your own home crowd???
Uruguay: Luis Suarez and Diego Forlan scored 71 goals between them last season. Let's watch them tonite against Henry's hand.
North Korea: As unpredictable as their nuclear policies.

2-0 to Uruguay!

But at the end of day, with 22 players on the pitch and the ball is round (debatable now with that new Adidas ball), anything can happen in 90mins....

Have a good one guys! DAY ONE starts in a couple hours time.

I really want S. Africa to win their opening fixture but Mexico is nothing to sneer at. To be honest, I'm more excited about the France - Uruguay match. Hopefully, France redeems themselves somehow.

I gotta say, I have a hard time predicting any particular winner. But I do know that it'd be real nice to see a new country win one. The Netherlands is at the top of my list. It's all emotional--fond memories of a trip there as a child, my first exposure to European football back in the 90s when ESPN broadcast the Dutch league, and just the sheer impressiveness of the many many phenomenal players they've developed over the years. And I really like the color orange.

I'd even cheer for a country that hasn't won it in a very long time like Uruguay or England.

And there are plenty of teams I'd very much like to see not win. That's a much easier. North Korea (sorry players, but your leader's a psycho), Brazil (yawn, not again), Mexico, Japan, Ivory Coast (horrible, I know, but it's all because Drogba always looks so whiny). I'm sure I could think of more.

I can't ******* wait for the next hour and a half to pass...

In a 0-0 draw?

I'm going to sneak out to watch France. Not much at stake for me in South Africa and Mexico. I've seen home crowds before.

Clearly the English don't watch too much of the American (North South and Central) Qualifying rounds.

Rooting for the Yanks and Azzurri although both will most likely not make it to the quarters or even out of their group. I guess after them, seeing I have some Castilian blood, the Spanish would be a nice winner.

How about some predictions for today...I think the France/Uruguay match will be a boring draw (0-0) but am not sure about the opener. Mexico could run riot, or the Baffanna/Baffanna could be sparked by their home support and surprise people.
