Thanks. Me too. The acrylic bends light and provides a subtle softness not found in modern watch crystals.

Yours is a quartz, so 4 jewels is more than enough given far less moving parts in the movement. It's a very good watch btw, with a high-accuracy quartz movement. Should be accurate to about +/- 20 sec/year IIRC.

I, for one, would not be ashamed to date that watch.

I'm looking in to getting a Seiko 5 military. There's a lot of sellers on ebay - are any of them legit?

Thanks. I was joking, but you are kind to want to reassure me.

The 8F56 movement is indeed specced at +/- 20 seconds per year (with regular wear).

Don't worry - I'm all good. In SF, we post pics of things we like, right?

It is in fact more an more turning into a lady - with the bezel fading towards purple and pink...

Ha! I kinda figured, but decided to post nevertheless. As for the number of jewels being relevant to the quality of the movement (Hope this isn't old news for everybody in this thread

) -- I recall there is a certain minimum number of key points which definitely benefit from being jewelled (I think it's 17 for a 3-hand watch without complications). Extra jewels do help to reduce wear and tear, but the returns are quite diminished -- they just show special attention on the part of the manufacturer, and massage the WIS-spot.

Love the GMT...! I just made my first Swiss watch purchase. As a 20 year old college student, it was a huge purchase for me. Took me ageeees to save up for this one. I'll post some pics when I get it...
