Lovie Smith, Mike Tomlin, Marinelli (yeah, yeah, but Millen's really to blame there), & Herm Edwards all served on the coaching staff. Also, Monte Kiffin was one of the top DCs in the NFL before he bolted to the Vols to help out his son. Top players from that period -- derrick brooks, ronde barber, sapp and lynch -- all have a claim to the HOF. the bucs from that era actually underperformed in the playoffs and probably should have won more championships. it was that underperformance that got dungy fired.

Excellent analysis, although I think we underperformed worse with Gruden. He was brought in as an offensive genius but our offenses never finished in the top half of the league during his entire tenure. His continued employment was due solely to Monte Kiffin coaching his ass off on defense.

Agreed. I never was a fan of Gruden as I couldn't stand what his offensive game plan was. At least we are actually winning a game right now.

I'm not watching the game, so uh, can someone tell me why NY's Steve Smith would've had his fantasy points drop from 20-something in my league to 11 just now? Did he have a TD wrongly attributed to him or something?

Edit: Nevermind, Yahoo! glitch, I suppose.

The Jets proved what a good team they are by shutting down the saints offense up until the last minutes. The only reason the Jets lost is because of Sanchez, those two errors costs 14 points, the difference in the game.

I'm biased, but the Jets looked like the more impressive team for a large part of the game. The defense played an spectacular game holding the saints to 3 offensive points in the half. Only allowed 10 offensive points total and made Drew look like an average QB. The offense didn't play that badly either, besides the 4 turnovers though. The 4 turnovers killed us. Sanchez's inexperience lost the game.
